Given all the breaking news and evidence that has been put forth by JoshHolmes, community members, and IGN this is a mix of what will and what I hope Halo 5’s playlist offering could eventually breakdown to…
Arena: (More focused on competitive play; only playlists to include temporary bans, visible CSRs, no JiP, and hopefully a forfeit feature)
Arena (4v4; a mix of core Arena game-types with an Ally Only Radar and it’s the only playlist to feature Seasonal Team-Based CSRs) - Slayer (4v4) - Breakout (4v4; Ally Only Radar) - SWAT (4v4; Ally Only Radar) - Lone Wolf (1v5 FFA; the only Arena playlist to use an Individual-Based CSR verses a Team-Based CSR & not feature the forfeit option) - Skirmish (5v5; N/A at release, but I’m hopeful it becomes available shortly after and it ought to include CTF, Strongholds, Ricochet, & Extraction) - Snipers (4v4; N/A at release and perhaps the least important of these core “Arena” playlist recommendations, but if it’s introduced it ought to include a Shotty Snipers variant) - Doubles (2v2; N/A at release, but I believe it will be eventually added and when it is it ought to include Neutral Flag)
Warzone: (More focused on casual play; does not include bans or visible CSRs while including limited JiP)
Standard/Basic Gameplay (12v12; PvP + PvE) - it should be labeled something in particular to separate it from other Warzone options. - Base Assault (12v12; PvP only) - A more slayer-based mode (12v12; PvP only) - it would mix inspiration from Regicide and Slayer with the Base Capture aspect; by this I mean killing human opponents is nearly as vital a goal as capturing the bases or maybe more so; especially, targeting statistical leaders from the opposing team (assigned a bounty) since they’d provide additional bonus points (a la Regicide).
Weekend Social: (Also focused on casual play; does not include bans or visible CSRs while including limited JiP where it makes sense. The community to vote on a weekly basis for the mode they’d like to have)
Big Team Skirmish (8v8; CTF, Dominion, Assault, KotH, & Oddball) - Action Sack (5v5; Fiesta, Plasma Wars, Mini-Slayer, Snapshot, SWATguns, Paintball, Medal Madness, Lightning Flag, Gungoose CTF, etc.) - Multi-Team (Fiesta, Slayer, Mini Slayer, Snapshot, SWAT, Regicide, Headhunters, Crazy King, Rocket Race, Rocket Hog Race, etc) - Infection (1v12; Last Stand, Hivemind, Safe Haven, etc.) - Rumble Pit (1v7; Juggernaut, Fiesta, Gun Game [new], Mini Slayer, Snapshot, Paintball, Crazy King, etc) - Community Options (Grifball, Race, “Classic”, etc.)
This would eventually provide 11 Permanent Playlists to choice from during the week; 8 competitive-based playlists found in the “Arena” and 3 casual-based playlists under “Warzone”. It would also introduce an additional casual-based option on the weekend which the community votes for during the week.Note: The forfeit feature I mentioned under the Arena would replace the option to quit in order to allow matches to end prematurely without penalty.
There is a lot to take in here. Good work dude I love the forfeit idea, would make for better times. The playlist seem alright, I wouldn’t just have a CTF playlist

Why wouldn’t you have a CTF playlist?
I assume you mean you’d prefer to have the CTF game type meshed in with the other non-slayer based objectives under a Skirmish or Objective Playlist, correct?
For me SWAT needs to be a consistent playlist. I have no issues getting SWAT matches in the master chief collection even today, so people still play that mode a lot and it deserves a place.

SWAT most certainly should be found in Arena on day 1 with expectations that it’ll be there for all of Halo 5’s lifetime.

Could you elaborate on the forfeit feature you suggested? It’s definitely an interesting idea, but how would you want it to work? Does every team member have to vote to forfeit the match or would it be a majority vote?

Not a problem.
I envision a “quit match” option existing in Warzone, but seeing it replaced by a “forfeit match” option in Arena. By choosing to forfeit the match a small white flag indicator would appear on the edge of your teammate’s HUDs along with your name. This flag indicator would alert them that a particular teammate of theirs desired to forfeit the match; however, in order for the match to be forfeited a certain percentage of the remaining team must also forfeit. For example: In a 4v4 game; if you’re the only one remaining due to others quitting by shutting off their system or exiting to the dash then all it will require is for you to forfeit (1 of 1), if there are two remaining players on the team it requires that both of you choose to forfeit (2 of 2), if there are three remaining players on the team then it will require a majority (2 of 3), and if all members are on the team it will again require a majority (3 of 4) to forfeit the match. A similar concept can be included for Big Team (8v8): 4 of 5, 4 of 6, 5 of 7, & 6 of 8 would be required (the required percentage never drops below 2/3 of the team). In Doubles (2v2) the full team would need to forfeit, but in a FFA Arena playlist the forfeit option is replaced with the quit option because there’s no negative affect toward a team when you wish to leave.

Hey eLantern, thanks for going into detail for me. I really like the idea of having a way to leave a match without being penalized; so when you get into a game with a poor connection or some other problem, you can leave without affecting your reputation. The one concern I have with this feature is the majority vote for 4v4 Arena. I really think for at least Arena, you should need all 4 votes to forfeit. I think this would keep people who don’t play in a party from being forced to take a loss when they still believe they could win the game. It would give solo players as much say as a party of 2 or 3 in the vote. Still, I think this is an awesome idea that would definitely be a great alternative to quitting and taking the penalties.

I hear what you’re saying with regards to being an individual who never wants to face defeat and give up, but on the flip side lets say you’re part of that team of 3 who have realized the writing on the wall that they’re outmatched by the other team and no longer wish to waste their time in a match that’s not fun or competitive to them; however, they’re now waiting on that one stubborn individual who simply refuses to admit defeat because of pride or belief that he alone can turn the tides. It can be cumbersome on either side of that proverbial coin, so this is why I think it’s best to try balancing it between the two sides. To forfeit you must obtain a majority of no less than 2/3 of the team in all scenarios.
