Halo 5 PC: "This app cant open"

Post is a wip

When Halo 5 Forge is launched for me on PC, it simply states that it cant run, and when I go to the windows store it asks me to repair it.
Upon finishing its ‘repair’ it completely re-installs the 32 GB game, and the error proceeds after that.

I have tried several things:

  • uninstall halo app, - quit teamviewer, - quit steam, - Reinstall, - Checked game files in ‪C:\Program Files\WindowsApps, couldent find anything of use for me there, - Restarted my computer, several times. - Disabled Avast (Have no other AV) - Killed the Log me in service and the tunneling service. - Made sure My PC meets the minimum specs - Reinstalled to the C:\ drive. - Verified that I meet the minimum requirements, and my processor works with the game. What other users have done, but did not fix:

  • Reinstall windows 10My pc specs are:

  • CPU: i7 2600k CPU, 3.40ghz, 3.80ghz - RAM: 16GB - OS: Windows 10 (No really?) Latest version, Anniversary. - GPU: Asus AMD R9 270 2gb DDR5, which is overclocked. If someone can please help, I am more then willing to take the steps needed to get Halo 5 working on my PC.

Same issues here, I have even tried a fresh windows install and still nothing. This is very pathetic that they cant even be bothered to let us know they are on it.

whats even better, is that they cant even get back on any ‘potential’ fixes, ie Rebooting PC etc. wheres their support?

I just want to be able to play this game.

Update: Game still doesent work after installing the newest windows update that I recieved last night.

Since this issue happens on fresh installations I think it has to do with having old processors in the PC. Some processors don’t support newer features. if a game was built with new functions in mind it might take a while to re do the game so they could replace it with something old processors can handle.

I made sure my processor is supported by SSE 4.1. Thats not that issue occurring.
I play several games that require it.

Starting playing around in the C:\Program Files\WindowsApps area, Uninstalled halo 5 from start menu,
then went to the “Deleted” folder and deleted it all together.

Ill update this post on it if anything works, all I know is the windows store is downloading it like I never had it. which will probably help me out.

That is not the case though. I have an fx8350 and I was able to launch the game an play for several hours the first time. After that all went the crap.

It was fixable when you reinstall windows, I can confirm this, I finaly got the game working when I did my annual wipe this Christmas.
