I’m curious about how many people on halo 5 pc prefer one or the other during custom games. As far as regular game play goes where you have to sustain a gunfight for a while unlike snipers and more or less point and click weapons, it feels like a controller has an advantage, strafing feels consistent and it feels overall more consistent in this area. I’m not gonna say that I’m not just bad with a kb and mouse in this game, but even playing against others I’m top of the team or not depending on what I use. This could have to do with being so used to controller for halo too. People always talk about bringing halo to pc for kb and mouse, but does it really mesh with the gameplay of halo. What does everyone else use when they play?
I used a controller when messing around on my laptop.
I use both, the keyboard still feels a bit foreign with the halo 5 pc version.

I feel that too, almost like something is different about how the game handles it. i can go play overwatch or destiny 2 and aim mostly fine, but halo 5 just no. strafing feels really off and things just don’t mesh really.
keep in mind everyones been playing halo on a controller since forever. if everyone just started using KB&M exclusively for H6 it feel pretty natural pretty quickly.

That may be true, but coming from console to pc with overwatch, cod, battlefield, and destiny never felt this off. I’ve never felt strafing is as good with keyboard and mouse. The game just feels like an outlier when it comes to this.
KB&M is garbage on the PC version. Aiming feels too laggy and imprecise.
I usually stick with keyboard and a gaming mouse that I got for less than 10 dollars with those back and forward buttons. It is easier and faster to aim with mouse.

That’s kinda how it feels for me I’d say. It really just doesn’t feel right.

I have a razer deathadder and razer black widow, so I know that’s not my issue. Faster to aim yes, so for things like swat you’re golden, but in longer drawn out fights with something like a magnum it just doesn’t work with strafing really making harder to aim. For me at least. I’ve played halo online a little while at this point and can say it feels far better there.

Halo Online was such a good idea. It’s a shame that it didn’t officially publicly release. atleast we have installation 01 to look forward to.

That’s true, I’m pretty excited for that, it seems project contingency kinda faded off. Halo online is still pretty fun to play using eldewrito.
I really hope this is an active post because I’ve been quite perplexed by this as well. I don’t think it has to do with people being used to certain things, but because of Halo’s core gameplay in strafing. Halo has always been about going left and right, messing with the other players aim, and the sticks making it even harder to be accurate. KB and Mouse eliminates the need to strafe because of how easily it is to pinpoint enemy targets; however, that elimination puts them at a disadvantage. Yes, moving and shooting is a thing on PC but its never focused on messing with another players aim; on PC, crouching has really been the only game changing strafe I’ve seen utilized in PC shooters. Gameplay of H5, Halo Online, H2 and HCE on PC always seem to eliminate that left and right movement that is key to the game. I’m enamored by Halo Infinite’s PC release because I’m curious if players on the sticks will stand a chance to those utilizing MKB. In most of the Halo PC ports, the controller seems to be more advantageous when I play because strafe and aim combined make a deadly duo. Mouse and Keyboard makes it hard to want to go left and right when you can flick shots on and guiding your reticle effortlessly to players’ heads; sniping and accurate initial target acquisition may be the only advantage MKB players have over controller players. I might be wrong, but this topic really intrigues me. Will Halo on PC really change the way it has traditionally been played? Or will it be like For Honor on PC where players will hook up controllers because it is more advantageous to utilize them over MKB? Or will controllers be just as viable as MKB because of their individual tradeoffs?
