With MCC currently on PC featuring Reach-Halo 3, and currently flighting ODST, we only have Halo 4 left to look forward to.
I can’t help but hope that Halo 5 could have a place on PC.
Considering that 343 has made the wise decision to delay Halo: Infinite until it is truly ready, and the fact that the Halo 5 engine has already been ported to PC in the form of forge and a custom games browser, I’m hoping that we will see it make its way to the PC sometime before the launch of Halo: Infinite.
Many of the people I play MCC with on PC haven’t played a Halo game online since Halo 2 or 3, as they have exclusively owned PC’s since then, and one of them never really got into Halo until MCC came to PC. This means there must be many new fans, or fans that have been away from the franchise for over 10 years that are now in love with MCC.
This is amazing, the fact that the Halo community is seeing so much growth now that all mainline Halo titles, including Halo Wars 1 & 2, and even Halo: Spartan Assault as well as Halo: Spartan Strike are all playable on PC. All except for Halo 5. For both new fans, and fans returning after a very long hiatus for the sake of continuity in the franchise I truly believe it would be a huge missed opportunity to not port Halo 5 to PC, or even to wait until after Infinite is released to port it over.
If it does get released on PC the only request I would have, would be to release it separate from MCC. That way, everyone who has missed out on Halo 5 previously can enjoy the full experience without the matchmaking directly diving players between the other playlists, but at the end of the day if that’s how it would have to be, it would be better than nothing.
What better way to get your new fans hyped for the launch of Halo: Infinite, than to give them a Halo title many of them have never had a chance to play leading up to Infinite’s release?
I see I’m ranting now, so I’ll leave you with this: Whatever the price of porting Halo 5 over to PC would be is nothing compared to the continued loyalty to the franchise you would gain on PC.
