Halo 5: Pay to win

So, as a massive Halo fan, I enjoy playing Halo 5. It feels like a classic Halo, or at least it did. The Arena feels great, no doubt about it. But Warzone however, is basically a ploy to make as much money as possible. I’m a happy paying customer, but I won’t pay over $100 just to get a good weapon. However, everyone else will. For example, today I was playing Warzone on Raid on Apex. I was capturing the East Armory with my Battle Rifle and Magnum, when a enemy comes in with a Oathsworn and obliterates me. This makes Warzone incredibly unbalanced. Why can’t Warzone just be with normal weapons. Nothing fancy like the Nornfang or Oathsworn mentioned above. Or at least a Social Warzone, with I’m sure many of you would like too.

The only way that you could make Warzone balanced is by spending hundreds upon hundreds to get anything remotely good. Take iSpiteful for example. No disrespect to him but the only reason he is supposedly great at Warzone is because he has all these great REQ cards to support him. I’m not saying he’s bad, he could beat me in a 1v1 any-day, but he wouldn’t be as good if he didn’t spend hundreds of money on REQ packs. It’s his choice to spend that money, but it unbalances Warzone as much as ever.

Considering what a promise Warzone could be, this lets me down massively. It doesn’t feel like Halo, and it pains me to say that. But I wish Warzone didn’t have this fundamental flaw. Please leave your thoughts, agreements or disagreements below.

You don’t need to spend money to get those weapons like Nornfang, Oathsworn, etc. You can buy packs with REQ points and unlock them, it just takes a little longer.

warzone is supposedly social as it is… an thats why i pprefer to stick to arena

And by a little, Moa means A LOT OF BLOODY TIME. But that’s beside the point.

Or maybe he use his hard earned REQ points to get those weapons???

You’re using a Battle Rifle and a Magnum, a level 3 and 1 weapon respectively, against an Oathsworn, a level 5 weapon in an enclosed area where a shotgun would excel. I don’t think I need to explain why you died there.

A regular shotgun and a Speed Boost would take you down just as fast.

There are people who have ~100% of REQs without spending a dime. Even I have 2 Prophets Banes I can clean house with, but I choose not to use them.

It’s not pay 2 win at all.
All of my good stuff I’ve got out of opening packs like everyone else.
Finish bronze packs first, then silvers.
I get plenty of The Answers’s, Arrow of Time’s, Scorpions, and banshees, etc.

If you have horrible teammates in Warzone, YOU WILL LOSE NO MATTER WHAT VEHICLE OR WEAPON YOU HAVE.
Wrecked the enemy team with a Banshee ultra one time dropped like 40-50 kills, still we lost.

A good strategy i use now since i finished silvers:
-Save up until i get 14000 points
-open a silver for 5000, then you’ll get 3000 back along with reqs
-open a silver again, and get another 3000 back along with reqs
-then open a gold.

This way i get more req’s to use while progressing towards unlocking all of my ultra-rare to legendary req’s.
Doing this i always have plenty of good req’s in reserve including wraith ultra’s and blaze of glory.

If you would have kept playing instead of writing this salty -Yoink- post you might have got some req points and got some guns too

Not so much pay to win as it is pay to save time. The better Reqs by no means guarantee victory, that would be player skill and overall teamwork. I would like to speed up the req process.

My idea (for a future Halo title) would be to unlock the base version of Armor through req and unlock the different skins (Noble Valor, Scout Decoy, etc) through commendations linked to the armor.
—Unlock Noble in req system, get 200 kills while wearing armor to unlock Noble Valor (prime example)
This way there aren’t hundreds of armor and helmets to collect through points.
I think this can also be applied in some way to loadout weapons and requiring kills to get more attachments rather than getting like 8 different assault rifles/BRs in your packs.

You can pick up dropped weapons also. Its not like they disappear after whoever used a req card died.

Sure it can be tiny tiny bit pay 2 win but it’s not game breaking.

It’s not pay to win. It’s pay to have more fun more often. And since when is paying for more fun wrong?

Warzone is meant to be unbalanced.

Skill trumps weapons any day… team work trumps weapons… also why does every one assume just because some one has a weapon they bought it? You do realize you can get reqs through points? Use your boost and play war zone it doesn’t take long to rack up req points. Get over this pay to win because it just isn’t.

I beg to differ. I faced this one guy who had over 50 kills using The Answer Saw. He had used at least 4 saws, maybe 7 in all. He got rocketed, fuel rodded and vehicle killed and always came back with another saw. If your not buying them, you don’t waste that many legendary saws using req points.

I have 24 The Answer’s, none of them came from money. So yeah, you kinda can.

The question of whether or not Warzone is pay to win basically comes down to this, If you have two equally skilled teams of 12 and 1 calls in base models of weapons, and 1 calls in the enhanced versions which one is going to win? Paying actual cash will give you an advantage over someone who has equal skill, experience, and playtime as you.

Someone here doesn’t even knows how the REQ system works…

Just because you have tons of High Level REQ cards, doesn’t mean you’ll win, in fact, if you are a bad player you won’t even get to use them…

How do you even know if he paid for that Oathsworn? There is no way of telling so this is just butthurt paranoia that is frankly getting old. It can’t be pay to win if you can gain the same weapons as the other person and there’s just as much chance as some like him ending up on your team instead of against you. I have a Nordfang and a Phaeton that I got through packs but I bet If I used them someone would just assume I bought some packs to get them. And since Warzone isn’t competitive, it doesn’t have to be and isn’t balanced so its completely possible for your team to get stomped by other players because they unlocked their good reqs before you did in the game.
