8 guys, all on our own xbones in one house. Anyone done this lately? Any tips?
I’ve wondered this too. I’d love to throw a LAN party like this!
We did one about a year ago. Of course the Halo 5 servers were down for like 3 hours in the middle of it. Horrible timing… (we setup a couple 360s and played Halo 3, which wasn’t as fun as you’d think now-a-days).
I’m hosting this time and wondering if anyone has any “pro” tips about optimizing this event.
I would love to but I don’t have anyone close by that would want to.
On of my favorite things to do ever! Some tips of mine:
- Make sure to plug into as many different power sources as you can, we blew the breaker, lol. I’d recommend trying to grab power from a different floor with an extension cord even if it’s a problem.
- It’ll likely get hot and stuffy, so make sure you’ll have some way to regulate the air, it wicks when everyone is uncomfortable
- We like to switch up teams in a proper order so that no one gets left out and no team keeps being to powerful. It makes it more fun, different, and interesting
Turning off lights and everything helps the power too.
-Also, get Ethernet for everyone if possible so that you have no network issues
I miss those days. Not one really wants to leave the comedprt of there own home. And drag there light tv’s to houses.
Back in the day those tv’s was like 300 pounds and everyone didn’t mine. And all the cables connecting Xbox to Xbox lol
Nope, because it bogs down that person internet connection too much.
I’ve done with over LAN with Halo 1,2,3, Reach and 4 though. Was good fun. I TRULY hope LAN is back in Halo 6, but I don’t think it will be. Halo parties are dead thanks to MS and 343I
“LAN without LAN” ← Logic
No but this seems like a good idea. I remember H:CE LAN parties
A Game Night with the Guy’s, I remember those days, about a year and a bit ago now, good times.
Lots to eat drink, we got pretty hungry around the 1-2 am time.
Don’t drink too many sugary drinks. I did this once because we didn’t really have any water except warm tap water that didn’t came out of the faucet really slowly. Basically, i got sick because i was dumb.
Open windows and maybe doors. It can get quite hot and possibly smelly.
Make sure your internet can handle many people at a single time. Turn off any devices you’re not using, cellphones etc
At the end of the night, make sure there are adequate sleeping spaces. I’ve slept on an ottoman, a hardwood floor, under a bed, on a rough carpet and once on a bed without a sheet and it was rare i actually got a blanket or pillow.
Have fun, Take breaks when necessary.
Edit: We also had a 1v1 tournaments and that was great. Have a few matches to test who has the most skill and least skill. Match players accordingly
