Halo 5 Overview:Pro and Cons

Lets weigh out the Pro’s and Cons of Halo 5:Guardians, this is based off my opinions and what I’ve seen the community so some of these, I might not even agree with.

Pros:
Equal Starts
No Load-outs
No Perks
De-scope returned
Armour abilities removed
LoL ranking system*(Divisions)*
Ordnance System Removed
Beta released a year early
Spectator mode
Arena style
Most visuals
Magnum scope
**Spartan Abilities (**They can be implemented better, although I have several(most) listed under cons, I fail to give the good side to these abilities)

Cons:
Sprint is highly debatable
DMR and BR in the same game is debatable
Prophets Bane was added
Hit Markers
Thruster Pack cool-down time*(4s)*
Kill Cam*(Ruins Sniper camps and secrets used by players like “ninja”)*
Ground Pound
Smart Scope
Sniper size*(Covering half the screen)*
Spartan endgame celebration
Starting gear and armor
Control Schemes
Too many medals*(Just to many of them, go back to Halo 3/Reach awards, its getting ridiculous)*
Call-outs*(Removes skill and makes a lot of teamwork useless and makes the game way to easy and I really ask to remove the"Sniper in 50 seconds"call-outs, that removes the skill even more)*
Case (Agent Locke is at top, I mean MC is the MAIN CHARACTER)
BR reflex sight*(Go back to the circle sight and make DMR the square sight from Halo 4, gives nostalgia and better visuals*)
The announcer is overzealous and annoying
DMR sight*(Look at BR reflex sight)*
Spartan charge*(A little bit weird and a little overpowered since people will just constantly sprint and will just insta kill people like they have an energy sword[sorta])*
Power weapon countdown*(Removes skill and opens the game to less intellectual people that can’t keep track of weapon spawns, power weapon control is a large part of the game and it needs to be back to normal for balance)*
Flinch*(If it is in the game, not sure, look at other forums)*
Grenade Indicators*(Informed that these will be removed)*
Colored gloves*(They should be black like in previous games, it looks like leather)*
Sounds are overdone and should seem more like old Halo sounds
ADS is just an animation*(Not really a con but I just decided to list it under, sorry)*
Beginning slayer instructive*(It says, control power weapons to dominate the enemy team…why say that? It’s like you want people be pros in the first game)*

Suggestions: Vehicles like in Halo Wars,BTB is a huge part of the game and needs to be thought through, playable elites, dual wielding, fire-fight vs spartan ops, brute weapons(maybe), soundtrack needs to be like old Halo soundtracks

Those are off the top of my head, now lets discuss it:

Armour Abilities v. Spartan Abilities
Of course armor abilities were removed with a limit as we all know. Armour abilities came into Halo on Halo Reach made by Bungie and had a
controversy of uneven play in a single match, but what most 343i misanthropists may think is that it is like Halo Reach/Halo 4 but it is not. Each Spartan has it at all times, the definition of armour abilities and Spartan abilities are that AA’s are picked out for each match but SA’s are “attached” to the Spartan at all times.

Spectator mode, equal starts and magnum scope
Equal Starts bring Halo back to the previous state like in Halo 2 and 3. Spectator mode should be added but make sure to make a 1-2 minute delay to prevent coaching, magnum scope is just overall realistic.

Sprint
Sprint is debatable by making the map relatively smaller and can escape combat quickly. Sprint can be balanced and may keep people happy by making it finite sprinting time and also a higher cool-down between sessions as well
as having shields not recharge. I know it seems a bit nerfed but sprint is important. Of course it is a bit hard to do that since Spartan charge and slide need terminal velocity of sprint to be activated but I’m sure you(343i) can figure it out.

DMR and BR in the same game
Fights between two precision weapons is unfair and may make the sniper relatively useless because if the DMR can reach the distance of a sniper then it can make the sniper zoom out, maybe add more bloom?

Prophets Bane
It is weird when it adds a speed boost, I can understand a lunge boost to add higher ground against the energy sword but I believe they should rename the Prophets Bane and add it to a sub-category of the energy sword and also remove the speed boost because this isn’t League of Legends or a MMO, all we need is invisibility and over shields and we don’t need a weapon with Spartan boosts, that’s a bit overpowered and not realistic.

Hit Markers
This isn’t a huge issue but for example if I’m a sniper and can’t see if I hit the enemy then I won’t know if I should bring out my BR or DMR to chase him and finish him or if to lay off and not take the risk. Not a big issue if not any at all.

Thruster Pack Cool-down time
The thruster pack cool-down should be longer because during a BR battle, I could have a chance of using that several times considering its 4 seconds. I think it is an interesting addition to the game and has potential if
it is fixed and balanced but PLEASE…PLEASE fix the visuals on the Spartan, it has those two weird poles on the back of the suit. Make TP in first person and be able to shoot while doing it.

Ground Pound
It is overpowered big time, people like Halo Follower say it takes a lot of skill but every game I play with a skill shot, I can perfect it in almost 3 games and it is too much like a skill in a fantasy game, just remove it,it does not belong in Halo, the Arena FPS shooter. I need to judge for myself but until then, I encourage it’s removal, and what will it do to vehicles?

Smart Scope
I don’t like smart scope on weapons like the Assault rifle because the whole point of that weapon is a short range fully auto weapon. I know that it does not affect range but assault rifle does not need a scope because it will just be de-scoped almost immediately and is not necessary in the game. Compared to other games that have EVERY weapon with a scope, please don’t be one of those games like BF4 or COD.

Spartan Celebration
It bothers me, I want my Spartan to be a sociopathic soldier, if anything make each Spartan do a move after the game that you can unlock, don’t make them interact with each other though, and if you do follow my idea than please make one where he holds the gun with his hands and stands there without any emotion into it.

Starting gear and armor
I do realize people asked for really cool armor but Halo 4 was a bit ridiculous and just keep it to Halo 3/Reach armor(I mean the type of armor not actual copies). Make the default armor a Mark 4, like the Master Chiefs like in former games.

Control scheme

Agian if you did not catch some things that I said above, I say that I listed many Spartan Abilities under cons and fail to give a good side or to how they could fix it. This was brought to my attention by Targetlocked, until I can find a way to edit this in a way were SA’s are good, just implemented oddly, this sentence will stay.

Ok. First of all I think that it’s great you listed some pros. Much of the Halo community has yet to recognize what 343i has done right, including returning to Halo’s foundation (for the most part). However, you have a lot of the aspects of Halo 5’s beta, especially Spartan Abilities (including Smart Scope) listed under cons. I don’t think that these Spartan Abilities are a bad idea, just poorly implemented. With some fine tuning they might actually work well. Modernization is necessary, regardless of the franchise or title. Afterall, Halo is a game and games need to appeal to everyone. 343i needs to find the right balance between modern and classic if Halo 5 is to succeed. They’re close to achieving that balance and with a few tweaks (such as those mentioned in the topic that can be accessed via the link below) they can perfect that which is Halo’s multiplayer.

The Magnum looks like it will be very powerful and skillful, which is a shame because it is inevitably going to be overshadowed by the better, easier BR and DMR. Speaking of overlap, the SMG and Assault Rifle…

I have mixed feelings on Smart Scope. I will say it doesn’t need to be on every weapon, and in fact it’s detrimental to some of them in particular. Rockets should get the old scope, Hydra should get old scope, DMR needs the old scope, and Sniper should have the black border removed. Anything else I don’t care that much either way, but I still think old scope is better.

Hitmarkers aren’t an issue. By all means they SHOULD be in the game. Halo 5 is already confirmed to have removed grenade hitmarkers AND grenade indicators, so no point bringing these up.

Medals are fine in my opinion. Yes there’s a lot of stupid ones like Comeback Kill, but the others are alright.

I’m assuming that, generally, spartan charge will be more useful for killing fleeing enemies than it will be for bum rushing them.

Ground Pound and Sprint are blegh, but they aren’t going anywhere any time soon.

I actually like prophet’s bane. Probably a little OP, but for a map like midship I think it works well. That’s obviously my opinion, but I think the increased movement speed will definitely make you feel like quite the badass.
Hit markers are really only bad for grenades and rockets (or other projectiles). If it only worked for weapons like BR, pistol, etc… I wouldn’t mind
BR/DMR is fine, as long as there is only one per map. For something like blood gulch, all weapons should be DMR (a little too large for BR). It’s only when they are in the same map that balance issues arise.

Yeah, I don’t like killcams either.
I don’t like the look of the sniper either
I hate the endgame celebration. Really cheesy

Nothing is really wrong with them in the logical sense just I’m not used to Halo being that way is all
Call outs are fine besides weapons, I can agree, its just annoying in my opinion though
