Halo 5 OST Sounds Great But...

It’s not memorable. most of the songs on here lack catchy melodies as a base that repeats, stuff like Covenant Dance, In Amber Clad, Flawed Legacy, Broken Gates, A Walk in The Woods (and more!) had; these songs instantly got stuck in your head the moment you listened to them. Some songs in Halo 5 make a good effort of this, though. Warrior World, The Trials, Scavengers, Walk Softly, Osiris Suite Act 1, and a couple others do so. Overall, I’m liking the OST but not LOVING it, which is a huge step up from H4’s OST, but I still think Jinnouchi can do better for H6 if he is working on it.

Y u haz to nit-pick everything? :frowning: It’s one of the most memorable OSTs I’ve heard. It’ll be more so in-game.

Critiquing isn’t nitpicking, this is just something I think Kazuma can improve on next time around. The OST sounds great, really.

Every single track of the H5 OST is epic in some way. That can’t be said for most of the other halo games. Marty was amazing no doubt, but he had a lot of works that weren’t very memorable. But his best works like finish the fight overshadow all his other shortcomings. But with halo 5, I haven’t found a single track that didn’t have good or great qualities to it.

I can’t wait to hear it in game.

I want to see how they use the soundtrack in the game itself. It’s going to be epic.

yea maybe hearing the soundtracks in the game will make them more memorable

You’re comparing 1 Game, to all the Halo games Marty has been on, so of course there is a higher chance of some not so memorable ones. Also, I disagree and think a majority of Marty’s tracks are memorable, if not all of them.

Love the classical music being included into the game!

There are a couple on here I feel are filler, but yeah I suppose in that regard Kazuma did well, but I also wish there were more quieter songs as well. There are certainly slower ones but they all ramp up in intensity or volume in some way. I suppose that depends on what’s happening in game, though. (Also I like humming Halo’s OSTs and I feel it’s a little harder to do that this time around.)

Yeah that Mantis fight is -Yoinking!- incredible with Walk Softly playing.

Someone hasn’t listened to Trials.

You didn’t listen to it.
That song is too hot; single best rendition of Halo theme. Better than Halo 2’s.

AHEM INTENSIFIES

Favorites would have to be Halo Canticles, The Light is Green, Kamchatka, The Trials, Jameson Locke, Blue Team, and Osiris Suite Act 1

I see what you’re seeing here. I just don’t think he’s quite gotten the point yet.

I’m just waiting to see how they’re used in game. Listening to the tracks now may not feel the same way when you listen to them in game.
IMO, Light is Green sounds better in the Cinematic than listening to the standalone track. Idk, the track itself could’ve used a bit more of a beat when the strings came in. After the epic percussion comes in, the strings afterwards just seem underwhelming. In the cinematic, I personally felt the background noise really immersed the track and gave it more vibe. But that’s just me.
Overall, I’m liking the soundtrack. I’m willing to bet that most of it will be a lot more memorable in game than in the soundtrack itself.
