Halo 5 on xbox1x

To all the owners of the new consoles, what does halo 5 play like on there . Especially is multiplayer improved at all by the increase in power and performance ?

What are you expecting in regards to multiplayer improvements? It definitely looks and “feels” smoother, but otherwise still plays the same.

Improved textures, improved framerates, improved resolution. It looks beautiful.

FYI I have 4k TV

I have no expectations that’s why I ask , maybe it loads quicker ? Or do you spot enemies at a distance better ? I have no idea I just wonder if anyone’s noticed anything at all and if so for the better / worse ?

Sounds good I’m undecided ATM halo 5 is the main title I play so if I do purchase one I want to see if it actually improves halo 5 . Thank you

I’m assuming you have a 4k tv. The gameplay seems to be a little snappier and graphics are good. I had a one s that I traded in so I got the X for $300.00. I have Netfilx 4k, Amazon also. Game wise I play mainly Halo but the console also serves as an my main entertainment component. (4k Blu-Rays) If you currently have a Xbox One you’ll see a big difference.

It certainly does. Do you have a 4k TV?

No unfortunately not I do have a rather nice 1440p monitor so I know it’s display would be able to give me better visuals than a standard 1080p tv . So I would see some visual improvements, I also wondered about load times etc and just overall performance enhancement. I will invest when the technology is a little cheaper as 4K with high refresh rate & response time like monitor has is a bit expensive ATM . But maybe when halo 6 drops I will have to treat myself lol. Just wondering what the current status is as whenever I buy something I like to make sure its future proof for a little while. Also with halo 5 specifically I’ve suffered with heavy aim badly and obviously all the other little issues we all do so I wondered if there was some improvements to these sorts of things too?

The game runs better all-around, IMO. your mileage may vary (YMMV)…

The biggest thing for me is a more stable framerate and resolution. Game is very fluid and runs natively at 4k, but still employs dynamic scaling. I don’t have much for an eye for this, but I think MINIMALLY, in very crowded environments, it scales back to somewhere less than 2160p but greater than 1440p native, but the frame buffer is still upscaled to 4k either way.

Keep in mind that things that involve the cloud server aren’t going to be (as noticeably) improved. For example, load times in campaign are faster (though, have never been an issue to me), but I don’t notice any difference in multiplayer. This may apply to ‘heavy-aiming’ and other server-involved processes (edit: not sure if its been confirmed ‘heavy aiming’ is a server side issue, but either way using this as an example. Anything server side won’t be improved in the game, so don’t expect lag to magically go away).

FYI, i have a Gigabit ethernet connection, with usually an open NAT. So, the game usually runs pretty stable for me anyway (though I have experienced hiccups of course, crashes, even). So, that’s why I say your mileage may vary.

Campaign for sure looks incredible, and draw distances seemed to be maxed out in environments, especially when there are no NPCs around. Play Sword of Sanghelios (or look up a comparison clip) and you can DEFINITELY tell the difference.

Play this on your monitor and you can make a more informed decision: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-halo-5-on-xbox-one-x-is-the-way-its-meant-to-be-played

Keep in mind comparison vids don’t do the engine justice compared to running it natively on your device and screen.

I was led to expect faster load times, but that doesn’t really seem to be the case. As others have said, the game runs smoother and looks better. I notice this most in forge where some of my maps used to make the One struggle. The X just spits out 60 beautiful and fluid frames every second - nothing coughs, nothing sputters. I’d say it’s time to up the object limit.

Just watched this some good points , I think I probably will get one , many thanks

Looks absolutely sharper, and feels smoother in multiplayer.

Campaign looks a lot sharper and better as well

OK, but what about those of us still playing with this stone age console that is the XBone? Do we just not play the maps with higher object limits?

Okay, go ahead, rain on my parade. You’re absolutely right, of course. But it isn’t as if anyone ever plays the maps I build anyway. They’re pretty much just for my own amusement. And boy oh boy would I love a 2000 piece cap. Or 2500. Or double!

I’m kind of on your side… It’s the downside of seeing an updated console rather than a completely new refresh. Gotta keep us have-nots in the loop.
