Halo 5 on Xbox one X review

It’s been almost 2 months now that I’ve been playing halo 5 in 4K 60FPS on the Xbox one X, and I have to say I’m still amazed every time I boot up the game. Distant targets are just as clean as upclose ones. The menus and in game UI are beautifully crisp. The frame rate is noticeably much higher more consistently than the standard Xbox one (although I still can’t avoid the gamewide hitches). The colors are off the charts and the character faces in campaign cutscenes are borderline real life (except for that wierd looking lady Halsey). As for any actual advantages, the weapon reticules are clean and crisp down to a pixel, so they barely block the target to make seeing it slightly easier . Long range in general is much easier to play in, with the ability to see changes in movement and pixels at extremely long ranges. Worth $500 just for halo 5? Of course not. However if you’re a sensible person and plan to play other Xbox one enhanced games as well I would say definetly save up and buy it. Every title that’s enhanced is a graphical and colorful joyride. Destiny 2 in 4K HDR10 is a treat. Games that haven’t been enhanced yet like rainbow six siege still look cleaner and less pixelated being supersampled. Games also load much faster. Do I personally regret or feel like I wasted money buying an Xbox one X and an expensive 4K tv? Not one bit.

Showing off and wowing guests that come over? Priceless.

Wow, thanks for the review! I’ll have to consider buying the Xbox one X!

Thanks man i’ve been wondering if its worth it as many Playstation fans tell me the XBOX ONE X is a knockoff of their product but i never got a xbox players perspective thanks man.

Halo 5 is my most played multiplayer. It would be nice to see it runnimg at it’s best.

They’re just jealous they can’t experience games like this. PS4 pro runs on adaptive 4K which means it reduces it to 2K or even 1080p when there’s lots of explosions and stuff happening. Xbox one X runs Full 4K nonstop and it’s beautiful to say the least. Prometheans look especially cool.

It’s a visual treat for sure. The forge canvases and skyboxes are absolutely stunning. Firefight is as crisp as hell can get.

I too upgraded to the XB1X along with an ASUS VP28UQG 28" monitor which supports 4k@60fps via HDMI2.0 and also supports Freesync. I no longer game on my TV, but instead have a dedicated game-station.

Completely agree with XLR8, the graphics are very crisp and the BTB maps no longer frame drop. H5 multiplayer is also my go to multiplayer… has been since the release date.

From what I’ve heard, the X can’t even run Native 4k so I don’t see the point in the 4k hype. As an X owner myself, it does run better than the original XB1s but hardly worth Spending 500$ for a slight upgrade in performance and over a thousand dollars If you also want the “4k” enhancements. If it was drastically better than the PS4 pro and the original XB1 maybe (not really cause no console should be this expensive when a PC can do even better by superior margins for the same price, I’ve always viewed consoles as “cheap pcs” and the X exceeds that).

as for halo 5 itself, I deleted the game months ago so I won’t ever get to see how it benefits from the X. I would imagine some of the frame issues improve and maybe a tidbit of an upgrade to its looks.

Hmm interesting, I always wondered how the affects are on Halo 5 since I am trying to buy a X soon to replace my original Xbox One to complete my 4K set.

Nice. I play on a 43 inch Sony x800d tv, as it has a gaming mode for reduced lag and I prefer the larger screen

It’s an improvement in every aspect. Definetly worth it in the long run.

This is a review of halo 5 on the Xbox one x compared to Xbox one, not a review of the Xbox one x itself

I dont know if you have seen Horizon Zero Dawn on a Pro + 4k HDR tv but i did the other day. That single handedly blows away any game ive seen enhanced by One X so saying they are jealous is a pretty large reach. That being said Halo does look good in 4k as i was able to see that a few weeks ago at a friends house.

They’re individual responses, not bumping. If I was bumping I’d wait 5 or 10 minutes between each response, instead of doing them at the same time.

Been thinking about getting the X but going to wait for H6.

Can’t wait till I’ve eventually pick one up for myself. Just waiting till the console is worth the 500 bucks though. Most definitely grabbing it 2018

Still classed as bumping, in future please use the edit feature to add any additional quotes or info, thanks

So I have to put all my responses in 1 post

Yes.
