Hey people. I know this topic has been discussed before but I just wanted to give my opinion on it as well.
Halo 5: Guardians is an Xbox console exclusive title ( for now ), however I think you can access it via Xbox Cloud Gaming for your computer. But as we all know, the technology still has a long way to go before being fully optimized and not everyone has access to 5G/high speed connection ( again, for now that is ). Releasing the game on Steam and other platforms ( such as Windows Store, etc ), expands the playerbase and makes Halo 5 playable for years to come. 343 Industries could even add more content to it or fix the issues the game still has till this day. The same could be said about Halo Wars 2. Yes, it is available on Windows Store and you can go ahead and buy it now. But imagine how many more players would get to know the game for the first time if it was accessible on Steam, how many more players it would attract, and some folks might even buy the game again just because of the fact that it’s on Steam now.
I’m all in for the idea of “expanding the Halo franchise and making in more accessible”. The managers in charge should allow multiple competent studios to work on different games of the brand and make it evermore reachable on several platforms, even genres. After all, if more people get to know Halo through the games and media, more people become Halo fans, and more people would spend money on the products. It’s all win-win for everyone, both the compony ( or companies ), and the players. But I have to say, the newer titles need to be high-quality products while also respecting the core identity of the Halo brand. They literally spent millions of dollars just for the development of Halo Infinite, I’m pretty sure they can spend that much ( if not more ) on porting games or dedicating other developers to work on the franchise as well.
