Halo 5 Number of Copies Sold?

Isn’t it weird how Microsoft didn’t give out the amount of Halo 5 copies sold? They said $400 million bucks were made with Halo 5 and hardware, but no mention of how many copies Halo 5 were sold or how much Halo 5 alone generated. Can it be that bad or do we have to wait longer?

It’s probably a just low number which is why they’re hiding it. Wouldn’t surprise me given how poorly the Xbox One as a console preformed in it’s opening years.

Could also be for the same reason 343i stopped showing population counts (Halol 4).

So it made $400mil and you’re asking if it’s bad?

The lowest estimate is 1.5 million copies sold on day one, with Xbox one at 10-15 million units, it’s got at least ten percent of Xbox owners, more than both reach and 4.

ive seen higher numbers thrown around.

That’s including Xbox Ones and Halo 5 copies. If they are adding the amount of money made from $350+ consoles and $60 Halo 5 copies, yes I think it’s bad.

Does it really matter? Either your own the game and you play it, or you don’t. The number of copies sold doesn’t change whether you’re enjoying it or not. There’s also nothing stating that they have to release that information.

I’m curious how many copies they sold because of the amount of advertising and hyping they did and how they claim this is the biggest launch in Halo history. Previous Halo games released their sales amount.

So they made $400mil by selling Halo 5 merchandise, and that’s bad?

Maybe the amount Halo 5 alone made was bad. Consoles don’t count. Previous Halo games showed how many copies they sold after the first week.

I imagine it would’ve sold a lot more if the game wasn’t, you know… terrible.
Add to that the fact that Halo 4 was also terrible, and MCC was a disaster…and you’ve got yourself a problem that only adding in sales figures for Xboxs, controllers, and overpriced legendary editions can mask.

Why do people never count req packs in to the $$$???

Chances are 5 million copies and 25,000ish xboxes.

Also, 343 did not include revenue from req packs in the $400 million.

Halo 5 supposedly did well, yet all you see is complaints.

It’s not just interesting, but important to know. If the game doesn’t sell as well as they need it to, the studio might face cutbacks in staff/equipment/resources for the next title. Counting consoles and merchandise is garbage stat cheating and should be ignored. It would be good to know actual real sales figures of people paying to own the game.

Do you want to know the reason they announced it like this? Look at the first sites to publish the news. Most are business sites. Microsoft released the numbers the way they did to appease the financial and business demographics. It helped to boost Microsofts stock price immediatly after the announcement. $400 looks better to fund managers than so and so copies.

I’d say it’s selling very well.

The Xbox 360 had a much larger install base when Halo 4 was released and possibly halo 3? I’m not sure about 3. So I would hazard a guess and say The numbers of copies sold might not compare favourably to previous halo games and Microsoft aren’t going to release figures which could be used to create click bait ‘halo is dead’ articles on N4G.

If they’ve sold 400 million dollars worth of Halo merchandise the game is already well on the way to paying for itself.

I’ll also go out on a limb and say the paid for req packs are a stroke of genius, I reckon they’ll take in more revenue in req packs than they have for any previous games’ season pass/map packs.

I just don’t understand why it matters. The game runs smooth, matchmaking search times are fast as hell. I never play the same people twice.

Unless you are a stock holder, I can only see you wanting the numbers to fuel some hate threads.

Have fun with that lol

It matters because if there are few people that means less multiplayer for everyone that owns it.

Because people don’t complain when they are satisfied or their expectations are met. In addition, people get off on QQing. The complaints you see in the forums are a very small percentage of the playing population.

I wouldn’t say it’s a very small percentage. Unless you have source? :stuck_out_tongue:
