Halo 5 needs to be fresh and innovative.

The problem with Halo 4 was that it wasn’t fresh or new enough. It was kind of disappointing in that respect being a new Trilogy and studio. It should never have released on the 360 too and rather in the next gen XBOX.
2012 should’ve been a Halo 2 remake and 2013 a HD Trilogy edition. Halo 4 should’ve been out in 2014 with next gen graphics. Microsoft -Yoinked!- it up in this regard because everyone is once again tired of the Halo formula.
Nextgen Halo 4 should’ve been bolder with a 20 hr campaign, space-land multiplayer battles with 64 players in the match, campaign having upgrades on armour as well as unlock-able UI’s. The combat mechanics having way more things to do like sliding, 1st person cover, giving Marines orders in where to go and what to do, destructible walls, execution mechanic, different sights like solar and night vision and maybe even picking things up like crates. forge would have a budget of 1 million and have different terrain you can pick as well as changing the landscape.

I hope at least all of these suggestions make it into Halo 5 as they would revolutionise the franchise. They make things all the more fresh and complex.

Armor Abilities could have been huge. There are so many original and fun things you could do with that concept.

Instead, they are bland and imbalanced.

no

At least your thinking about it and being creative!

I feel most fans want it to go the other way though… Back to the Halo core. No AA’s, equal starting weapons and playing field.

Halo 2’s 10 year anniversary is still not for nearly another 21 months.

I disagree, they are not that imbalanced. The jet pack complaints come from people not knowing how to deal with it. Pro vision, mabe a little overpowered. Other than that I can’t think of any that hurt game play. I don’t see how they are bland either but that’s my opinion. Oh wait -Yoinking!- active camo blows I forgot.

Let’s give it a new name, too.

Halo at it’s core is a campaign FPS with a couche-based multiplayer mode that only works in that (or very similar) context. We can’t go back to that because Halo’s come to exist in a radically different environment which even as far back as Halo 2 bungie should have done more to recognize.

The simplest way I can explain this is this:

There are abilities that augment combat capability, and there are abilities that are very bland and do nothing more than prevent you from taking damage in different ways.

Jetpack, Camo, and Vision are offensive abilities.

The rest are defensive, and have a much smaller impact on gameplay.

I think it’s important to have something “fresh” while not straying too far from what Halo has always been. They should be careful in regard to how much the choose to innovate.

Did you say… first person cover? GOD NO, just no, that has to be one of the most ridiculous things invented in gaming. No. Honestly the whole idea starts out alright with expanding the universe, yadada yadada, but quickly spirals out of control. Most of that stuff is not even possible on next gen systems thanks to current internet capabilities, as well as they simply do not have the manpower to produce such a giant. Next gen =/= magic, expect the upgrade to be the same as between Halo 2 and 3, which if you know, was hardly too significant.

Please tell me this is a troll thread. You cannot be serious? If you want a game that is nothing like halo, then don’t play Halo. Play planetside or something. That has more than 64 person battles.

I however, want to play Halo, and while H4 isn’t much like the previous installments, it is still the closest thing we have to Halo.

What I mean is that you stick onto walls when taking cover instead of awkwardly standing/crouching like it feels like nothing. I think shooting around walls is too much though - so that shouldn’t be in. The cover I’m suggesting is one where it only polishes the game and makes it flow better - won’t really make a big enough to vastly change Halo’s core but would be a nice fresh innovation.
Also I think everyone would be disappointed if the changes between Halo 4 and 5 weren’t much.

Yes I am serious. Imagine a BTB with 4 32 player teams that are Red, Blue, Green and Yellow fighting either TDM, Dominion or CTF on a huge map on land. Anyone can also respawn or fly to Space where we can have huge space ships battles there with Banshees and Longswords as well as there being two huge UNSC Cruisers as AI fighting in the background.
How is this not like Halo? In this context it would be awesome.

There is nothing wrong with wanting that type of gameplay, but Halo has always been a small scale game. That is the core of how it works and always will be. Changing that fundementally changes everything we love about the game.

If you want large scale battles in a sci-fi universe, then check out this game:

It is free to play and feature hundreds of players at the same time fighting over entire Continents. It is pretty much exactly what you described.

It is free so try it out.

i agree

“Halo 5 needs to be fresh and innovative”
I think that Halo 5 needs go back to Halo 3, add a ton of innovative crap that doesn’t change the gameplay too much, and then remove nothing. There, ladies and gents you now have the perfect Halo game.

And BTW I’d LOVE more players like 32 players in a match at once as long as I could still play good old 4v4s and 2v2s also.

Yes I have played PS2 and don’t like it.

When updating to Next Gen then you can obviously do a lot more things and one of them is upping the player count and making matches bigger.
Also how in the hell does it “fundementally changes everything we love about the game”?! It’s just a bigger map with space-play as well as more teams. I think you’re overreacting a lot. Theoretically it should be the same except the scale is bigger. And Halo has never been a small scaled game, that’s only because of its limitations. I can play 32 player matches on PC and it feels fine if not better.

Yeah you should still be able to play those game types. I think with these changes, people would be encouraged to play Halo again as it introduces something new.

I disagree with 90% of what you said.
But I would like a slight player cap increase.
But nothing crazy like 32, no more than 20 max.
Also, space combat would be interesting.
But it’s possibilities are very limited, so it won’t happen.

No offense, but your ideas are terrible…
If you want Halo to be like this, let’s all be thankful you’re not a developer.

Er thanks for your sentiments.
