In Halo 5 I wanna see Promethean vehicles in campaign. Halo 1-3 was about the Human-Covenant war and it featured big scale battles with the humans and covenant (the two scarabs segment of the campaign). The human-covenant war is over, so the focus of Halo 4-6 should be on the prometheans, not the covenant. I would like to see some large scale battles against the prometheans. Such as going up against war sphinx’s and such. It would be neat to see the promethean equivilant to the warthog, mongoose, scorpion, ect. (as there is a promethean equivilant to the assault rifle, magnum, scattershot, ect).
It also opens up opertunities for multiplayer.
Here is an idea from a user (named Selsiuss) who has suggest promethean vehicles act as prometheans on their own but when they die they become vehicles than can be manuvured. This idea makes alot of sense and story wise makes sense too:
> “got it, I really got it. Prometheans don’t need vehicles because even without the ability to teleport, they could restructure their bodies for rapid travel when needed. There were different kinds of Prometheans too, Crawlers, Knights, and Watchers.
>
> Instead of having separate vehicles for Promethean Knights to hop into, have the “vehicles” actually BE Prometheans of another kind, with a vehicle-shaped body, and they would come in different forms(tank form, transport form, flight form, etc). In Campaign you can either destroy them fully or if you’re tactical you could kill the “Pilot,” a module or node that contains the Promethean’s AI core, then hop in it’s “body” and control it. In Multiplayer, the AI “brain” would be gone upon spawn, ready for piloting.” ~Selsiuss
Really? Becuase the Prometheans sure don’t.
I disagree with you point that The Reclaimer Saga should primarily be about the Prometheans. The Reclaimer Saga is about humanity’s effort to attain the mantle and unite the galaxy to stop the return of The Flood. It should feature all of the factions equally.
But I do agree that there’s more of a necessity for the Prometheans to have vehicles. They won’t have access to Requiem’s teleportation grid, and the vheicles would provide them with good transport and fie-power on a hostile world.
But if we do see Promethean vehicles, they should be special and unique. Halo 4 had enough redundant copies of staple Covenant/UNSC weapons.
> I disagree with you point that The Reclaimer Saga should primarily be about the Prometheans. The Reclaimer Saga is about humanity’s effort to attain the mantle and unite the galaxy to stop the return of The Flood. It should feature all of the factions equally.
The reason why I feel the Covenant and Flood should have less focus is because the first Halo Trillogy was about ending the war with the Covenant and Flood. Halo 3’s tagline was finish the fight.
I don’t like the idea of the finished fight between mankind and the covenant lingering on. This new trillogy should focus on a new fight. The prometheans, or maybe a brand new faction as well.

So this is why Prometheans need vehicles?
Of all the factions in the Halo Universe, none need vehicles less than the Prometheans. 343i would need to dedicate a complete task force in order to possibly concoct a dubiously convincing reason for a Promethean vehicle to exist (barring spacecraft already revealed).
It’s somewhat disturbing that some people, including people at 343i, think that the Halo Universe is the perfect place to put in stuff that is cool but serves no real purpose
*** COUGH *** M A N T I S *** COUGH ***
Look at the CE sandbox and tell me what doesn’t belong or make sense. Halo 2. Halo Wars. Halo 3. Halo 3 ODST. Halo Reach (go ahead, say Jet Pack doesn’t belong or make sense. I dare you). As the Halo sandbox has evolved and expanded we have all benefitted from more new and exciting ways to kill each other, all within the context of practical military design. Halo 4 has ushered in a new era of impractical military design with a penchant towards the “cool factor” and, possibly, toy sales.
It appears some people think that the Prometheans provide an opportunity for 343i to venture off into fantasyland. I worry that threads like this one will provide the excuse to take the plunge. With all the possibilities provided by the UNSC, the insurrectionist, and the Covenant races, why is it that the next new vehicle has to come from the race that doesn’t use vehicles?
> *** COUGH *** M A N T I S *** COUGH ***
Um, Halo Wars had the cyclops which was a mecha.
Even fall of reach had the instructors using exosuits. Mjolnir is intentionally a miniaturization of such technology, but requires augmentation.
Most the UNSC arsenal is designed more for ‘coolness’ and game play. Modern weapons and vehicles are more or less equivalent and better designed.
How is a species that can build stars and planets being completely outclassed the moment the opposition grabs a warthog practical at all?

Cyclops served a purpose. It was primarily an armed repair vehicle designed to work in a hostile environment. The fact that it’s a mecha is not only immaterial, it’s actually logical. Another vehicle we got in Halo Wars was the Wolverine, which is a far better anti-aircraft weapon that the Mantis could ever be, and there are at least three variants. The Mantis can’t run or jump. It apparently can’t even step over a small obstacle. It’s so slow and cumbersome that it can’t avoid being boarded by troops on foot. It’s appearance in the game was only for the cool factor. In short, why make a Mantis if you already have three kinds of Wolverine? If you’re going to have a mecha, have one that works.
The UNSC arsenal (and the Covenant one for that matter) is cool because it’s functional. Everythings seems to work quite well at what it does, except the Mantis, which is just… there.
Why beings with the ability to teleport where they please need vehicle transportation is beyond me.
And the image of a Promethean Knight at the wheel of some sort of battle jeep or tank is rather ridiculous.
War Sphinxes seem more like a boss rather than a vehicle to take down.
Anyway, if you’d like to see some new vehicles in Halo, leave it to the humans or Covenant to invent. For now, the Prometheans only have three different species, one that is a dog with no ability to pilot anything, one that can already fly, and one massive walking teleporting tank, which, as I said earlier, has no need for vehicle support.
Want a Promethean vehicle? Have a teammate with an Incineration Canon sit in the passenger seat of your Warthog.
Maybe Forerunner vehicles if they introduce the Forerunners make a return.
But like I stated, for new vehicles, keep it to the Covies or UNSC.
I got it, I really got it. Prometheans don’t need vehicles because even without the ability to teleport, they could restructure their bodies for rapid travel when needed. There were different kinds of Prometheans too, Crawlers, Knights, and Watchers.

Prometheans and forerunners use the same tech, armour, and weapons.
Notice how didact’s armour looks identical to a Promethean knights . They have the same orange glowing under metal look.

this!
Brilliant idea, mind if I put it in the OP?

This… actually sounds rather cool…
Transformers in Halo!

You know, the Promethean Knights and their weapons were designed specifically to fight the Flood. Specifically. It’s not clear that Prometheans ever bothered with ground assaults. The Forerunner books talks mostly about huge fleets of spacecraft.
What you are talking about has already been done in Halo. The Scarab is a walking drone. Point being we don’t need Prometheans to do what you describe. There are plenty of opportunities for the humans and Covenant races to provide the kinds of things you’re looking for. The Promethean military is not the place to be looking for nickel-and-dime jeeps and tanks. They have the Halo rings. What the hell do they need with “transport forms?” Even the Covenant only deployed one type of tank. If things got too rough for those to handle they just pulled everyone back to the ship and glassed the planet from space.
I’m all for new cool stuff. I was against the UNSC Walker until I learned it was essentially a Locust. I’m positive we are going to see some more hardware from the Forerunners (there’s more of those Forerunner ships like Regret found out there). Any Promethean stuff will probably be too much for multiplayer.
I wouldn’t mind it as long as there is a sensible reason behind it.
> I wouldn’t mind it as long as there is a sensible reason behind it.
There wasn’t a sensible reason for bringing back the Covenant.
The covenant were defeated completely after Halo 3, we finished the fight.
343i brought them back in Halo 4 for gameplay reasons, because fighting covenant
is core to Halo’s gameplay.
They added the story explination as to why they returned second, as a last minute explination for the lore to make sense. But the primary reason for the Covenant’s return was gameplay.

I wouldn’t really consider it last second when we got 2 novels that set it up.
Also, any war of that size is unlikely to cleanly end. There are just too many different people for everyone to be on the same page. Combat between elites and brutes was mentioned to continue for years after the war.
I’d have preferred they kept Brutes over elites though, they fit the rag-tag guerrilla fighter so much better.

Except there was, and that is that this is a splinter faction excommunicated on Hesduros, led by an elite extremist still keen of the idea of humanity not existing. If the Covenant races were truly unnecessary as enemies for the progression of the story, we wouldn’t have them as enemies.

Proof that Halo 3 is about finishing the fight:
In 2011, 343i officially said that the Covenant was defeated in this video:

Proof that the war against the covenant is over (In Halo 4, the war is still over, it’s been four years since the end of the war):
