Hey 343,
I know you have already heard the outcries for infection, but I want to clarify that it’s not just infection we are missing. There are many fun custom games we used to play in Halo 4 and Halo Reach that aren’t creatable because there isn’t a 1 flag CTF or a KoTH or Assault. The list honestly goes on. This is a major downfall of the Halo 5 game and is causing many people to leave it. I understand that building Halo 5 from the ground-up plays into this factor of not having these gametypes ready, but I would really like to have them as soon as possible. In addition, Halo 4 forge had a new addition called trait zones—which were awesome!!; however, Halo 5 lacks such trait zones and would benefit greatly with the addition of those. With all the other amazing things about Halo 5 forge I am surprised you overlooked adding the trait zones from Halo 4 because those add so much more options to the game.
Well, I think I have played my part in the feedback forums today and hope to see the servers back up soon so I can go back to playing instead of complaining.
Allow me to play Devil’s Advocate here and state the following;
343i already stated their number one goal is to make Halo a competitive, competition worthy game to be compared to CoD. Aka, tournaments, tournaments, tournaments.
Now look at the playlists.
Team Arena; Slayer, Breakout(Slayer with a flag), Strongholds, etc
Team Slayer; Slayer
Breakout; Slayer with a flag
Free-For-All; Slayer
SWAT; Slayer
Holiday Doubles; (my fav) slayer
Big Team Battle; Slayer, Slayer, Slayer, CTF, Slayer, Slayer, Strongholds, Slayer
And, Holiday Social; Slayer.
Beyond the fact that all of these are slayer(Variety is the spice of life,) They’re also all SYMMETRICAL. The maps may not be symmetrical, perfectly, everytime, but every game mode in this game is inherently based around symmetry. Why? Because asymmetrical gameplay isn’t worthy of competitions and tournaments.
Now look at the game times the community enjoys(in combination with file share and forge)
Infection; Inherently Asymmetrical
One Flag CTF(My custom maps NEED this); Inherintly asymmetrical.
Races; Are not Slayer, 343 cannot compute
KoTH; If they included this, 343s shotty copy of it, strongholds, would become extremely apparent.
Griffball; No gravity hammer, unsure why
Fun; Fun and tournaments aren’t friends.
In conclusion, 343 has already told you their plan. To ignore you. If they wanted these game types in the game, theyd have been included. They don’t. 343I has stated their priority, symmetrical, tournament worthy game types. The community can suck it.
