Halo 5 needs 2XP across the board or 2XP Packs

Staring off, I’m aware Halo 5 is almost 6 years old. I’m aware that I “should” be 152 by now. But they only recently revealed what type of reward we will receive in Infinite. That’s given people enough reason to go back to play 5. But like I’ve said, we need either the double xp packs in the store for the remainder of the games lifespan or double xp across the whole game. It’s grueling to play through a warzone match and only receive maybe 11k xp out of millions.

Anyway, it’s just a suggestion. I know my grind from 148 to 152 is… steep. Double or even Triple XP would be amazing.

EDIT: No I’m not trying to undermine anyone’s hard work grinding to 152. I would be fine if they just kept the packs in the store! It’s just a lot! Any player would say it is. It’s just so late in the game’s lifespan that I’m afraid that if 152 isnt hit by launch, the game will be too dead to try. That’s all! Please don’t attack me, I promise I’m not asking for a 152 handout lmao.

I’m all for having packs in the store for a more long term basis BUT having double or triple XP permanently turned on essentially just disregards everyone who already got 152.
Double or Triple XP makes 152 way easier and takes away from the status symbol that is 152. There’s about 3,500 152’s right now, that’s how rare it is.

That reward is for the most dedicated players who put the time in. A exclusive reward.
Making it easier for everyone defeats the point.

There are multiple threads surrounding this topic, and I’m not quite sure why we need to keep revisiting this. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. 343 does not need to do anything to make it easier to get to 152. it cheapens the reward you in Infinite and is a slap in the face to all those who’ve already hit 152, some of those with multiple accounts. Use your boosts and play featured playlists and you’ll get there. I started playing multiplayer on July 28th and I’m already 150. I should be hitting but August, which will be plenty of time before the Infinite release. You want to reach 152 before Infinite? Play the game… that’s all you have to do. Best xp will come from mythic firefight, tired of playing firefight, take a short break, or go to another playlists for a bit… you may not get as much xp, but xp is xp and as long as you’re earning it… you’ll get there. Nowhere did 343 state that you had to get to 152 BEFORE the Infinite release… 343 would alienate a lot of the halo hardcores if they suddenly make it easier to get to 152. They’re not making any changes to any other games, they certainly don’t need to do it to Infinite.

The idea is to reward those who like the game enough to play it that much, not to make the reward just another trinket for everyone to get. 343i has done a lot of double XP events and given a lot of Legendary XP boosts. I’m sure they will do many more this year to celebrate Infinite’s launch.

That’s totally fair! I don’t want the grind to be all for nothing for the players who have already unlocked it. I just think maybe the packs should stay in the store so people can consistently buy them. The grind for req points adds onto it which I think would be great.

They didnt state anything about having to get there before release BUT the games population is already super low, so after launch, it’ll still plummet. Thats my fear. Again, I’m not trying to undermine anyone’s hard work, I just think that the packs should stay in the store. That way if i spend all my req points on the pack, I can grind even more games to get enough req points to get more boosts. More playtime equals more xp.

They are actually available to buy 24/7 in the MS store but you need to pay with real money rather than REQ points

I’d be happy if they just made the xp packs more common, I hate myself now for taking a break during the holidays and missing the packs, now who knows when they’re gonna come back :’(

This is why you should find a spartan company (if you haven’t already) and find people to play with (or that enjoy playing the game). Even after Infinite comes out, there will still be those people that still will want to play, and finish the xp grind. As far as packs go, I have a hard time justifying that as well. Between daily packs, win packs and gold packs (provided you finished the REQ grind), you should be getting xp boosts everyday. And even if you don’t, mythic firefight gets you 13-15k per match even without a boost. I would suggest (if you finished the REQ grind) loading up on gold packs. You’ll get RP back, plus (since you’ve unlocked everything, you’ll get REQs and boosts. If you don’t want the REQs, you can sell them, get more RP, and buy more gold packs and repeat the process to get more boosts. Again, with everything that’s available to you already, there’s no need, or reason for 343 to do anything but sit back and watch. Like I said previously, all you have to do is play, that’s going to be the easiest way to get xp.

I thought about spending my RP on gold packs, but I am gonna hold out and save up my RP until the next time the WZ XP packs come back.
at about 300k right now, hoping I can get up to maybe 600k when they’re back.

I still have a few blue XP boosts, so I’ll use those for now. I don’t like the gamble of buying golds to hope I get decent XP boosts.

I use whatever I got, except for RP boosts, since i finished the req grind… The problem with that is, you never know when (or if) they’ll ever come back between now and Infinite. I have about 1.2m RP saved up. But to me, a boost is a boost, and something is better than nothing. I’ve been starting with my lower rarity boosts and working my way up to the legendary. I still haven’t hit my legendary boosts yet in warzone and have around 140 or so… I tend to stay away from arena, simply because I don’t get the xp I do in warzone (firefight or regular)… and I don’t get as much enjoyment out of arena as I used to… that’s how I get so much for per day… I average anywhere from 130-225k per day.

Why not use those legendary boosts now?

Seems like the best way to increase your XP earnings…

Because I’m saving them for the 15m from 151 to 152… and so far… playing mythic… I haven’t really felt the NEED to use them… yes it would make it go quicker… but if I’m already getting 13-15k per match in mythic firefight, I’m ok with my 200k per day… especially if I only NEED to earn 100-120k per day to make 152 before Infinite… I’m already well ahead of schedule by getting 175-200k per day…

Alright no worries.

I just thought, if you have 140 boosts, and you have 1.2M RP currently saved up - why not reduce the # of games you need to play per day?
Yeah, you’re earning about 200k/day which is great, but you could do that in about 3/4 the time if you used the legendary boosts.
Then, by the time you run out (awhile) you’ll have saved up even MORE RP - and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the XP boost packs on sale by then!
Might give you 1 hour back of free time per day.

Just my two cents.

No worries man!!! I always look for advice on here and especially when I was just starting out and getting boosts, that was the general consensus at the time. Save em till you need em. I’ve been able to make it by so far (without too much of a struggle, with just my mission victories and my lower rarity boosts. Those legendary boosts are still going to come in handy, and I guarantee I’ll use them all once I hit 151… Just didn’t want to waste them while the road was still relatively easy…

I’ve been able to make it by so far (without too much of a struggle, with just my mission victories and my lower rarity boosts. Those legendary boosts are still going to come in handy, and I guarantee I’ll use them all once I hit 151… Just didn’t want to waste them while the road was still relatively easy…

As long as you are having fun!

I don’t think the road is easier or harder at any particular point. The end goal of 50M xp is the same.

I just don’t want your XP boosts to keep building up and maybe never get to use them!

That way if i spend all my req points on the pack, I can grind even more games to get enough req points to get more boosts. More playtime equals more xp.

Definitely having fun!!! Wouldn’t be playing if I didn’t enjoy it… And I enjoy getting wrecked in mythic firefight more than getting wrecked and completely destroyed in any of the arena matches.

If you break up the 50m into easier to manage goals, like I did early on, I would try to get to a certain level by the end of the day or week or whatever, then yes, the road becomes easier in certain sections than if you just take the 50m as a whole. Now that I need millions of xp to level up, it becomes less of a road and more of a mountain… which is why I saved my boosts for now, and will be tearing them up from here on out and will get there in no time.

In order to find the most effective way to spend you req points, the first thing that should be investigated is the XP payouts from different boosts. Here are the xp payouts for the main Warzone boosts at SR148 ordered from the highest to lowest payout.

Legendary Boost: 11240 xp
Uncommon Jackpot: ~5017 xp
Rare Boost: 4496 xp
Uncommon Boost: 3372 xp
Common Boost: 2248 xp

Here are the drop rates from the different boosts from Gold and Silver Req Packs. The packs are ordered from the pack with highest to lowest chance of giving this boost.

Legendary XP Boost

  • Gold Pack: 2%Uncommon XP Jackpot
  • Silver Pack: 56% - Gold Pack: 8%Rare XP Boost
  • Gold Pack: 52% - Silver Pack: 6%

As it can be seen, the Silver Pack is objectively the best pack to get the largest maximum xp payout as the Legendary XP Boost is way too rare to be worth grinding for and the Uncommon XP Boost is relatively common in the Silver Packs. In addition to that, you will get the boosts at half the cost compared to getting the slightly less rewarding Rare XP Boosts from Gold Packs.

Yeah I’d like the reward to be well earned, I’d hate to see it everywhere in infinite.
152 is a real achievement earned by dedicated H5 players, double XP would spoil that.

At the end of the day it’s just cosmetics, the value is in the dedication and achievement… Double XP would take that away to an extent, there will be many other ways to unlock other cosmetics.

Dude, that’s super informative, thank you!

What about saving up for the legendary packs?
Worth it?
