The topic of Halo 5 alone has left me with excitement, but also makes me worry for the future of this franchise. What could be improved. What could be added. And what could be left out? Many other Halo gamers have written their thoughts on this topic. An excellent forum post being the topic of sprint. Which brings me to the question, What makes Halo?
While I do believe 343 did a fantastic job on the campaign. The topic of Halo 4’s multiplayer caused a split In the community. And while I also enjoyed the multiplayer there Is problems that need to be addressed. The speed on certain maps such as the remake of The Pit was a noticeable from It’s Halo 3 counterpart. And the topic of whether or not Armor Abilities, and the loadout system should be taken out. This has caused the gameplay to change drastically to many people. Even someone like me who could accept the new things brought to the table.
One of the most challenging parts of creating great maps especially In Halo 4, Is how the speed of the player will be used. One of 343’s best map’s Is Skyline. However the problem especially growing more with Sprint Is how fast players move around. Skyline is a competitive close quarter fighting map. Which creates problems for 343 to build maps.
On the topic of what need’s to added Is difficult. In my opinion what needs to be added Is things from the previous trilogy. Not necessarily the exact same things. But thing’s like combining old music from the original trilogy with the new. As much as I love the new music Halo 4 has to offer, I do find myself missing the classic Halo theme. And speaking of that did anyone noticed how low the music was during cutscenes In Halo 4?
As many others said I’d enjoy the return of classic weapons and vehicles. I’d enjoy some UNSC aircraft. But also some new vehicles. Maybe from Forerunners. As for playlists, I’d love to see the return of some old gametypes. Such as V.I.P. And an Invasion gametype. For other things. I’d love the ranking system to return. 1-50 to be able to display. Keep continuing the route of the customization of Armor. And a redefined firefight mode.
CAMPAIGN
I am enjoying the the subject of Chief’s humanity. The story had my emotions bubbling up for that epic finale. I’d want some more open areas. Making It feel like the old classic Halo levels from Halo 2’s campaign. I’d want a longer campaign. And maybe a boss battle. And old characters to return. Such as the Arbiter. The return of collectibles besides terminals. And speaking of terminals keep those. The music being a bigger part of the campaign. Keeping the levels diverse. And also more vehicle based levels such as the broadsword and pelican mission.
While some of these ideas are unlikely due to the development time. I am excited but also worried for the future. My heart goes out to the development team. And I wish them the best of luck In making this game. I want this to be a great game. And quite possibly the best In the series. And In my opinion It does have the ability to.
