Halo 5 multiplayer ranked arena is a hassle

Idk about you guys but when I play team slayer, for some reason I always get paired with some bad teammates that either are AFK or quit during the match. I can’t even play good when its 3v4 or sometimes 2v4. Not only that but I usually play social team slayer to warm up before playing ranked and I find it so frustrating how its almost as hard as ranked slayer. Another problem that I don’t like and this is just a personal opinion but I hate how often grenades are thrown and it just messes up the match. Some matches it just grenade kills over grenade kills. For me, it really affects my rhythm during the match and I feel that grenades should have less of an impact during a match, especially in ranked slayer.

I’d say try to run with a team, unless you just always want to solo. The grenade spam can be annoying, but I think they are under powered to begin with though. Probably just having a bad luck stretch with team mates, plus it’s a new season so just be patient.

Yeah, you’re right. I think it’s too early of a season to determine that teammates are bad. Thank you for replying though, i appreciate it.

The grenades are decently balanced, but it sounds like you’re running into buddy teams who are spamming nades at you to keep you suppressed or pick up a kill. This becomes increasingly more common the higher level you are. Unfortunately Halo 5 is mostly lone wolf players who have no idea how to actually play the game other than in slayer. Even then they don’t even follow the most basic strats, i.e breakouts and spawn blocking. Unfortunately this means you’re in my boat, stuck solo queuing. And unfortunately, when you solo queue you will be matched with teams. In the words of Tupac, That’s just the way it is. My advice would be to find a Spartan Company.

Honestly, you gotta run with a team. I just tried to get ranked in swat but two games in and I was matching against partys. The second game was a party of all 145… I kinda gave up after that.

If youre gonna play core playlists in halo its going to be sweaty ranked or otherwise. as for teammates quitting I dont get that outside of social playlist much. some is expected to be honest. If the game is going bad and teammates are quitting then you cant just put the blame on randies. especially if it is happening repeatedly. You could be slacking or not playing or positioning well with your team. Anytime I solo queue I always just either fill in gaps for the team or try to open up the map as much as I can. You just have to learn how to read what your team is doing and play along.

I don’t even bother trying to play arena anymore. I feel as if someone that has access to player profiles hates me and targeted me to only play against elite/pro players …

Basically I find arena too frustrating to play in any playlist because it’s literally never a fair game. I’m always matched against players that just destroy our team. I dunno, that’s not fun. With all the stats that 343i collects and how long I’ve played, you think they’d have a database of players that would be more suited to play with/against.

What website or training site can I go to to learn to play more competitively in ranked teams?

You’re absolutely right. Playing ranked multiplayer is much more different than just playing for fun. The only reason why I put this on the forums was just to steam off and rant a bit because i was consistently having bad matches. Now I’m playing much better.
