At E3 Microsoft is likely going to announce an ‘Xbox One+’ of sorts similar to PS4k or (to be honest) Nintendo’s NX. These mid-life console updates will most like have remaster titles for launch mostly.

So here’s my wish/prediction:

Halo 5 can’t do splitscreen because of a combination of Xbox One not being strong enough, and 343’s refocus on things we didn’t really care about. BUT…

…Say Halo 5 relaunches with a splitscreen, LAN enabled version on this slightly stronger console…?

Doubtful. They’d have to make a separate multiplayer. Why split the community?

They are not going to relaunch Halo 5. If there is going to be a Xbox One+, you would still be able to play the Halo 5 you have now.

I know where you’re coming from, but this would be a poor move on 343’s part.

If 343 makes people buy Halo 5 again just to have split screen, people will be mad. Not even a little mad, I’m talking “controllers wedged into the hard drive” kind of mad. That and the possibility that they’d have to buy a theoretical Xbox One + to even access that feature. 343 and Microsoft would not have a good day after that announcement.

The point splitscreen can’t be patched in. Ever. It would take re-development on the stronger hardware. And it would be compatible with vanilla H5 so I don’t get the split community thing.
