Hey, Franckie2010 here, devout Halo fan, crusher of n00bs on Xbox Live. This is my first time attempting to post onto the Waypoint forums, and the reason I’m posting this is because of E3 2017. I know, I know, its been known for some time that not much Halo was going to be presented this year, but a detail of the event caught my attention that i felt needed to be explored. During the briefing, it was mentioned that games like Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4, and Halo Wars 2 were in fact going to recieve free 4K updates once the Xbox One X is released, or something along those lines. Now i must ask, what about Halo 5: Guardians? Will we be able to play Halo 5 in crisp 4K resolutions, with Dolby Atmos support? Do we have to wait until the next entry into the series (btw 343i, I have theorized that the next Halo will be a “Second Chapter” of sorts to Halo 5, being called Halo 5: Rise of the Created or something. I get this from KiKi’s comment of not wanting halo names to be like Final Fantasy lol) to have these types of features available for the FPS Halo experience? Are there any more updates planned for Halo 5 at all? Personally I highly enjoy Halo 5, I’m rank 147. I truly want to have Halo 5 as one of my initial games to be played on my new Xbox One X in 4K, with Dolby Atmos. I am ready to be immersed into Halo like what has not been possible before. Anyways, hope you guys read this, thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
A Halo Nerd
The complete lack of Halo related anything at E3 this year should tell you a LOT about the state of this franchise. What a joke.

Or or or… maybe they aren’t ready to show anything and so don’t want to repeat what they did for Halo 5.
Your on waypoint right now, you have no excuse for thinking 343i had anything to show at e3. They clearly aren’t ready and so will show their game when it’s actually ready and is 90% representative of the true game.
2005 e3 had no halo.
We don’t know what they got in store for Halo 5. I’m guessing 2-6 months something new is gonna happen to Halo 5 involving the Scorpio (yes I know it’s called “X” but I rather call it Scorpio).
With your sentence involving theories around the next Halo storyline, I’m sure they’re are gonna put the whole plot down into Halo 6 and some EU stuff if anyone is interested to go out and find out in the near future.
We can only wait.
We will have to wait and see whether 343 give us an update for H5. If they plan on launching another game on Scorpio (prefer this name better than X) then that will most definitely have 4K support.
As others have said, we don’t really know. One can only hope.

Drops mic
I agree, although I give 343 a hard time they honestly have about the same reliability as Bungie, however I believe they are doing a Halo interview or panel today, I can’t confirm because I can’t do links on my phone, but I’m pretty sure that is true.

Actually the trailer for the Xbox One X has a visual where you see the Chief alongside all of these other prominent video game characters. So M/S obviously still view Halo as important. They just don’t have any gameplay and this years E3 is all about the Scorpio’s ability to boost your games. So they aren’t going to drop a story trailer.
My guess is that this is simply M/S budgeting and they’re going to go really heavy marketing in 2018. It could be that a big chunk of E3 2018 is going to be dedicated to Halo 6; so surely M/S is going to promote other games if 343 has “pre-booked” its advertisement revenue.
I just hope that 343 listened to the Halo Community. There are thousands of fans that love this game. When Halo 5 dropped as an incomplete game, horrible lobby interface, unorganized REQ system, no FireFight, no split screen, etc… A bunch of fans were upset.
Let’s just hope that Halo 6 will address all the shortcomings of Halo 5. If we have to wait another year, so be it. I personally believe 343 has a bigger responsibility to their fans, for… You know,… How incomplete Halo 5 was at launch.
(we won’t mention MCC)

They also announced a Firefight expansion for Halo Wars 2, but I won’t let that stop you from decrying the franchise as being in a state of emergency for what is probably the millionth time in its history.

I’m very critical of 343, but I think the community could learn a lesson at managing their expectations this time around.

Well that’s the kicker isn’t it? Nothing was expected, and disappointment still occured.

Then that’s kinda on you and the other people disappointed.

I fail to see how 343’s incompetence is on me or anyone else.
Some of the posts here are so dramatic. Halo franchise in a state of emergency!? Since when? MCC has its flaws yes, but Halo 5 has been a massive success, and despite some people saying they were upset at halo 5’s launch, I recall no such thing. Not to mention no paid DLC (other than microstransactions) that kept the community together, and warzone firefight that was another great addition. I was far more satisfied with Halo 5’s launch than I have been with MCC, and other competing titles. I am mainly a pc gamer, the only reason I have an xbox one today is because I love Halo more than any other title, and still play the hell out of it. I, like everyone else would like to see an update with higher res textures and resolution, but let’s just see what 343 has to say before declaring anything a state of emergency…

Well, anybody who manages to still be disappointed or outraged at stuff that was already announced to not be mentioned still becoming one of those two feelings is entirely on the person.

Or it could tell you that 343 are finally coming to their senses and putting the time that’s necessary into the next game.
Not cutting corners, not jumping the gun… not neglecting important content and core tenants within the game… Something tells me that they’re really trying to get this one right.
BUT… given that this IS 343 that we’re talking about here, I think it’s definitely important that the community keeps the feedback rolling in. Drill it into 343’s head… make your voices heard, because this next game NEEDS to be good. Halo isn’t exactly in a great spot right now, as much as they want you to believe it is…
