Halo 5 Menu Design

This is just an idea but what if we had an interactive game-play menu. Okay so in Halo 4 we had the UNSC Infinity as a canon base of operations for multiplayer etc. What if instead of just selecting with a controller you use your Spartan-IV to explore and find the different sections. Idea came from Halo 4 and Halo: Spartan Assault

So when you load up Halo 5 your Spartan-IV customized how you want is in Cryo-Sleep. When you press start he/she is awoken and then you roam around the UNSC Infinity. There is different sections that can be accessed via elevators, stairs, tram lines or just drive a warthog there; which can then access different game types, plus meet different characters from the story as well as a lot of NPC marines and crew along the way. To make sure you don’t get lost you have a GPS system by pressing back and could select where you want to go from the list. Just Remember the UNSC Infinity is the largest ship in the UNSC and Covenant and so the option for fast-travel would be available too.

Characters You May Find
-Captain Thomas Lasky (Bridge),
-Commander Sarah Palmer (Bridge),
-Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 (Cyro-Bay),
-Artificial Intelligence Roland (Bridge)
-Majestic Team (Cafeteria)
-Arbiter Thel’Vadam (Hanger)
-Petty Officer Second Class Kelly-087 (Cryo-Bay)
-Lieutenant, Junior Grade Fred-104 (Cryo-Bay)
-Petty Officer Second Class Linda-058 (Cryo-Bay)
-Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck (Armory)
-Captain Veronica Dare (Armory)
-Corporal Dutch (Armory)
-Lance Corporal Romeo (Armory)
-Private First Class Mickey (Armory)

Game Types
-Firefight (Armory Via ODST Drop Pod),
-War Games (War Room Via Elevator)
-Spartan Operations (Hanger Bay Via Pelican)
-Campaign (Debriefing Room Via Terminal Logs)
-Theater mode (Observation Deck Via Terminal Logs)
-Forge (Storage Room Via Storage Logs).

So just imagine for the Campaign, you go to the debriefing room find the terminal and your Spartan hand starts touching a few things and then this pops up.

So What Does Everyone Think?

That… actually sounds kind of cool.

So long as it isn’t too huge, or there is an alternate menu access system through terminals/screens.
Not everyone will want to spend time running around trying to find locations - but it would be fantastic for hiding easter eggs.

This actually sounds really good and an interesting idea! As long as their is an alternate menu, and the Spartan menu, isn’t to big, and there’s not a lot of walking, then that would be really neat! Although, in all honesty, I would like to see 343i spend more time getting the UI right, because Halo 4 (and even Halo Anniversary) UI was garbage. Halo Reach had by far the best UI and they should really go by that. There was a picture of a fan made UI for Halo 4, and what it should have looked like, and the picture was music to my eyes.

This would be sweet. I think this would work best if right away you would be able to interact with terminals located close by in the “cryo room” for the game essentials (i.e. campaign, multiplayer, forge) and then through other doors the rest of the ship would function as a sort of free roam. Cool idea!

I think this general idea has been passed around for the past 3 games. It always sounds awesome, but it’s never been done.

Sounds really awesome,

BUT,

This requires traveling to get to what you want to play.

The bad thing about this is TIME. If it takes you an extra 30 seconds to travel from MultiPlayer to Campaign, the you have wasted 30 seconds, which could had been resolved with a simple scroll and sone in less than 1 second.

However, this would work and does remind of World of Warcraft (WOW). Where you travel to different area of the game depending on the Arena you wanted to fight in. and it seemed to work.

If Halo ever became an Open World game, then your idea would work great.

Or they could probably add 3 more maps to the game, instead of creating a menu that sound like it will take a lot of time for players to get from Campaign to Match Making.

Thanks for the praise guys. My idea would work if Halo 5 is open world but its really just an feature they could bring in. I sorta got the idea back when Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic and Mass Effect with the ship. Dont get me wrong though only look at making something like this when Halo 5 game modes are perfected or close too being perfected.

Just thought about also multiple accounts logged in on the same xbox one. They could all start inn Cryo-Sleep and see one another the screen would be split in how evr many players their are.

I like it. It makes the UI more interactive and less scroll like. Plus as was said you could add a lot easter eggs in it. great idea.

Me gusta. I’m getting tired of the static menus.

Noooo, that is way too clunky, slow, and inconvenient. I want a menu for a menu, not random gameplay. I’d much rather prefer a wonderful, easy to use, functional, streamlined menu like Reach’s.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE

I had enough of that kind of BS from Fable 3’s menu.

Something like that sounds cool and certainly is, for the first 10 seconds that is.

I just want Reach’s menu. Fast, sleek and tells me what I need to know.
