Fact: Halo 5 MatchMaking system does NOT evenly balance out teams, even in ranked play.
Proof: 15 Games played at Diamond Level Tier 2. Every game played the system matched with players who are at the Platinum or Gold level.
Problem: The Match Making system is currently designed to designate one player as the teams “carry” player by using what some players have referred to as the Hidden MMR System.
This way of pairing players is very innefective and does NOT create a balanced team, even in ranked.
This system also creates a larger skill gap for the player to contend with as they cannot improve on their skills when continuously paired with players who are drastically below thier current skill level.
In order for a player to improve on thier skills they must be able to play against and with other players who are above their current skill level. For lower level players this will always be the case as the team they’ll be put on will also have a designated player who is ranked much higher. Alternatively for higher level players this is almost NEVER the case. Higher level players are often paired with players who are of a much lower skill level rather than being paired with players of equivalent skill level.
Solution: Pair players EXCLUSIVELY based on rank.
Pair players with others who are at equivelent rank, or slightly above, but at the most one rank below.
Example: Rank Diamond Level 2 players are to be paired with other players ranked Diamond Level 2, but may be paired with players of a higher level up to the low level Onyx ranks, but may also be paired with players of lower rank as low as Platinum2, but never below Platinum2. This would allow for more evenly paired matches, especially in ranked

I don’t believe that’s how it matches people in regards to having a designated carrier. Those players are correct with saying the hidden MMR rank is what the system uses to match people since your visible rank can be wrong.
You should probably read and post in this thread and past Feedback threads since that will likely clear some things up and your best chance to get a comment from the person who made the matching system.
Well, ideally, the system will pair people based on their ranks. It’s when there aren’t enough people at each tier searching at the same time that the system starts piecing teams together.

I have read the post you suggested and I believe my point is still valid. Let’s say the player has an MMR of 1700(max) and a CSR of Diamond 2, that player is more likely to be paired with players of a lower MMR rather than players of equivalent MMR, yet cannot be paired with players whose MMR is greater than thier own as that player has achieved the maximum MMR of 1700. This would then force that player of Diamond 2 to be paired with players as low as Gold2 based on how close the MMR is, but could be paired against a group of Champions, once again based on how close the MMR would be. This in turn results in the player with the max MMR being forced to act as the team’s “carry” player.
The system itself may not choose a player to act as the “carry” but it sure is forcing players to do so.
As for the solution, I don’t work for 343i and I have no control over the current situation, nor do I have any background in game development or design.
That being said this has been an ongoing issue since LAUNCH and yet it’s very rarely addressed.
There have been some updates to help improve the situation but overall the system is still flawed.
I can provide further evidence of system’s flaws. Recently i made a second account to see if I could find a solution to this forced carrying problem.
Within 12 games on a NEW account and I was already being forced to carry other teammates.
I played 10 games in ranked Slayer and placed Diamond 3 and immediately after those 10 games the system began to pair me with Gold level players, mind you I’m still playing at Diamond 3 level.
Even on a BRAND NEW account the system works the way its desogned to and will pair accordingly.
Creating unbalanced teams and unfair matches, specifically in ranked gameplay.

The issues you are finding are most likely due to the low population of the game. Josh has already stated that the matchmaking puts you in correct games but due to the population there are some issues. Additionally I would be careful with saying that 15 games is proof since that it a very small sample size. Also what were your win/loss for these matches since if it is around 50% then I would say the system is working correctly. So what it you have to try hard and carry your teammates. Play with a fireteam if you don’t want to rely on randoms.
The game is not broken simple because you are not having the best of time.

HALO TRACKER: A Tiny BR Just. Smurf Account. 35 games, 68% win rate, lost.3.games of HCS, remainder was played in Slayer. After 10 matches MMR began forcing me to carry teammates at the Gold level on a Saturday evening when population was fairly high, your argument is invalid.
Also that excuse, it’s a team game is unnaceptsble, does that mean solo que players should be limited to playing FFA or find a fireteam. NO the system is the problem here and if you actually did some research like I have you would understand the true natrue of the problem is indeeed the MMR system amd the way its designef to function. Look up MMR Warzone and you’ll understand my point.
