Halo 5 makes me sad

not to complain, just expressing my thoughts.
i have never been too big on online multiplayer, so, I recently canceled my gold membership. And now, there are only four things I can select in Halo 5 main menu: those being singleplayer campaign, theater mode (useless), halo channel (also useless), and message of the day (mostly useless)

Look, I understand halo 5 is not capable of running split-screen. But I should (without gold) still be allowed to enter a signal player custom game, you know, just to go around the map, cuz why not. And I should be able to (without gold) use forge. Forge does not mean I plan to put a map in public, maybe I just want to put something together. But apparently “multiplayer is required” to forge in SINGALPLAYER. I don’t know if this has to do with the whole all custom games gets dedicated servers or not. But this is a major disappointment to me. It was one of the reasons I was willing to get halo 5, I wanted to use forge. And now I am very disappointed, (and have been disappointed for a while, when I got my Xbox one, and halo 5 last November.

i hope no one starts trying to argue with me over my thoughts and opinions (because that is not uncommon when I post on halo waypoint) I just wanted to state my opinion, and learn other’s thoughts on the matter.

It’s a shame that Forge requires online connection to be accessible… but I don’t care because of how awesome it is!

Oh right, um, sorry to hear that, OP. Hopefully you can get Gold again.

I’ve been quite disappointed with games in general relying too heavily on online access. I know it’s for 2 big reasons: online support (less of a burden on the system to store things elsewhere, but if the servers are down, where are your forge maps?), but also it renders the games nearly useless to those who don’t have Gold. It’s for money. Subscriptions.

When I was in college, I couldn’t afford the internet, let alone Gold, and this was during the Halo 2 and Halo 3 days. So when I wanted to play online I had to go to a friend’s place who had those resources. But fortunately, I could still play around in Forge (in H3, at least) and set up customs and such for when friends came over for split screen.

It’s a shame we’re losing all that.
