It’s getting a little unbearable how bad the Magnum is in ranked play.(Platinum Slayer / Team Arenas)
I played a handful of matches where I refused to fire a single shot with the “Magnum” and only fired literally any other weapon on the map in addition to using only melee and grenades.
In every single one of these matches, my tool of destruction was melee, and I got a minimum of 3 more melee kills in those matches than ANY other match where I’d tried to use the Magnum.
(Example: if I had a good round where I was trying to kill people with the pathetic magnum and got 15 kills, I got 18 melee kills when I refused to use the pea shooter)
How is it possible that it makes a better club than firearm at this point in the game’s life?
You might actually be the only person who has this opinion. For sure, the only person on this forum I’ve seen say H5’s Magnum is bad. You’re not trying to be a troll, are you?
In Halo 5, I’m around rank 113 and my top weapon in arenas/social play is the Halo CE pistol of my childhood. This is despite the fact that I’ve probably played 100 rounds of halo 5 “everything else” for every 1 match of social I’ve played when the halo ce throwback event is going on (in halo 5). No, I do not use my CE pistol REQ cards during warzone, either. I save those. If I get the Halo CE pistol in fiesta I usually stop dying altogether, also. Would be nice to have a decent pistol again if it’s going to be “the utility weapon”

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Halo 5’s magnum is the most well refined one in the franchise. Its incredibly meta in all playlists, if it was bad, it would of been buffed years ago like the AR and carbine was. Its meta in warzone, throughout the entire match, its most people’s TOS in competitive play unless they strictly play swat and even in social its meta. This is just a case that you cant aim so you mash the melee button instead…
You’re only a Platinum, so it’s understandable that you see the magnum that way. Once you get into Onyx, and even mid diamond games, you’ll find the magnum is essential. Once you learn advanced crouch strafing, positioning, then you’ll really see that it’s not a “pea shooter”, but rather the most refined weapon in the game. My suggestion would be to turn down your sensitivity if you’re having trouble aiming with it, as it’s not the gun itself. There are times when I’ll be versing someone and wonder how I didn’t get a headshot or something, but that’s about it. What are you settings?

I used to think the magnum was all powerful then I did this. The magnum is still better than the AR but I didn’t do that bad being an Onyx player using only the AR. I did use the magnum at the end because the game was close but we lost anyways. What I’m trying to say though, is that the magnum isn’t essential(in Slayer). You can survive with just an AR, of course I didn’t match up with anyone my rank.

Halo 4 buttons, default, 3.5 horizontal, 6.0 vertical, look acceleration 5. When I made the post I was at 10.0 for both. I play inverted.
The magnum is literally the only gun most decent players use. 343 nerfed all the other weapons to the point they are useless. People use magnum over AR even at close range because AR is so unpredictable. Good players don’t even pick up BR or DMR in slayer or quickplay because magnum is better. SMG is worthless now. The best weapon for very close range is plasma rifle combo with a melee. Sorry but magnum is the best weapon in the game besides power weapons. (and personally I think it’s a joke that 343 made it so all the other weapons in the sandbox are essentially obsolete now to the magnum).

Jesus Christ that’s incredibly fast. It takes about 20 games to get used to a sensitivity. How has switching felt so far?
I’ve been putting in my hours. Been doing better with a lower sensitivity overrall but also “discovered” BTB modes. These are, to me, what Halo always was in the past. Fiesta BTB and BTB are great stress relief when a break is needed from Arena/Social and Warzone.
The magnum is the most balanced weapon in this game and each weapons works. The AR works in close same is the smg, the br was nerfed but still very useful, Im 152 and onix/champ in my other accounst in every season I told you for sure.
Maybe you need to learn how to use it or change your sensitivity or play more. Feel free to ask me any questions.
The Halo 5 magnum is not even close to terrible. At this point after all the moronic nerfs and weapons tweaks it’s pretty much the number one choice in every encounter.
My tool of destruction overall in Arena and Social playlists is still melee. Changing sensitivity helps a tiny bit but I still max out around 5 Magnum kills per match even when I get 20-30 kills during the match. It’s just not a good gun.
i found magnum still not precise, magnum become precise when zoom,it s just frustrating that there are 2 circles , the viewfinder has 2 circles, about the larger circle I would like to remove it, as it turns red even if the trajectory of the bullet does not effectively hit a body .
It confuse me a lot and i lost 1 or 2 bullet every time.
Out of all the people I know not one of them has said the magnum is a bad weapon, not to mention it’s not just a short range and mid range weapon, if you are a good shot the magnum can also be a great long range weapon, you have not lived until you’ve killed someone with a magnum at the longest range possible.
