Halo 5 Magnum,, 343i why

Ok 343, i have been very impressed with Halo 5 and was blown away with the beta, i agreed with all the post beta changes you announced at the end of the beta. ie; sniper zoom, dmr scope, sprint, base player speed, ground pound remapping, etc. But i am not happy at all with the news you unveiled in the sprint episode saying that the magnum now has a slower firing rate. The magnum in the beta was perfect, why did you change the firing rate!!! a pistol is not supposed shoot slow, its supposed to be a hot swap to finish of a weaker opponent, or in the case of the beta, be a quick firing precision weapon that you can use effectively as a primary against most other weapons. obviously i havent played since the beta and havent gotten to use the new magnum, so i wont judge yet, but i hope you have not messed it up. The magnum was perfect

I hear ya, but from what I’ve seen of Warzone gameplay, the pistol looks pretty good.

Because BR nuts won’t be quiet until BR is the best.

if I remember correctly they buffed the damage and slowed the rate of fire post-beta. Can someone link me to some gameplay from warzone that includes a pistol and a timestamp of the time aswell? I’d like to compare the two.

Also usually when they slow a rate of fire, its almost not noticeable.

i mean it still looks like its good, but it didnt need to be changed in the first place. i would rather have the fire rate then the slight buff to damage

Be for life, one gun game forever. We are the guardians of the br

The slower rate of fire is the only confirmed thing, that does not necessarily mean it is a net nerf to the pistol.
Josh Holmes post on teambeyond.net indicated that the post-beta pistol is the best its ever felt since CE. There is no confirmation whether the Pistol is has been buffed to a 4 shot or otherwise changed. It wouldn’t make sense to me to just nerf the rate of fire and then claim it is improved over the Beta.

The only other thing I can think of is that is also got some aim assist buffs which I hope is not the case(at least I hope it is not the only ‘buff’).

I felt the Pistol was a little underpowered in the Beta myself and despite the fast killtime it just did not do enough to ward off the BR/DMR/LR/Snipers that a team with map control possesed.

I’m all for a great Pistol as a starting weapon, so I hope Holmes’ post about it being the best pistol since the CE pistol is true.

Really now? I can’t say I recall anything like BR fans complaining the pistol was somehow too strong during the beta feedback. I saw preferences for BR starts, but that hardly is the same thing as somehow hating that the Pistol had a fast killtime…

i know the slower firing rate is confirmed, that is what i am against. i loved the fast firing rate, it was great, it had a great balance between power and speed. and i am not trying to say im a great player or anything but i could hold my ground at close-mid range against every other gun in the beta when i used a pistol. that was my tool of destruction in team slayer

so they made the magnum suck again. Magnum is my favorite weapon, makes me sad.

Oh buddy, you don’t hang around with BR enthusiasts as much I reckon, which normally happens when you play the competitive side of things.

That thing has a religion with such folk.

Well it’s a 4 shot kill so there’s that.

TRUE

I’ve actually lurked quite a bit in competitive focused forums and have seen plenty of people who have problems with the BR(and burst fire in general). Framing the love for the BR as a solely ‘competitive’ thing is just not telling the whole story. Is there a degree or irrational love for the BR? Yes, but that is honestly to be expected of what was probably the most commonly used weapon during Halo 2/3 which was the peak(as of now) of Halo’s popularity. Plenty of kids grew up playing with the BR in Halo multiplayer so there is going to be a fair bit of nostalgia associated with it.

Its unfair to frame the ‘issue’ of BR fans as solely competitive one when it has a huge casual fanbase. I took issue with that comment because it is an example of unproductive discussion throwing accusation’s against a perceived set of players that only really serves to start fights. Especially when we still do not know the full extent of sandbox changes post Beta.

I don’t think it’s really unfair, that’s just the coat of paint the BR has gotten to the eyes of the people.

Whether or not it’s a bad thing depends how far people take it.

I heard that there’s less auto aim in general.
Is that not true for the pistol too?

I’m pretty sure they said in The Sprint that it has a lower firing rate, small damage boost, lower recoil, and a better Smart Scope.

Honestly having the Carbine and the fast-firing pistol in the same sandbox would be kind of redundant. Both are precision hitscan weapons with an insanely high rate of fire, low damage per shot, and medium range.

if that’s true, then it’s almost like the original Magnum.

the warzone build must be old then because the pistol was 5sk

2:22 - 2:25 5sk perfect kill medal.

They increased the damage so they needed to balance it out by reducing the rate of fire.
