it takes MUCH longer than 2 seconds to lower my weapon or detach the camera, and when I aim my weapon doesn’t go back to the lowered state like it should. Are the machinima controls broken or am I just stupid?

I’m not sure what your talking about… Is you controller drifting? If so, there are setting for drift. I had a controller last week go belly up on the left thumbstick. It started drifting and the settings wouldn’t fix the problem… Had to buy a new controller.
