Halo 5 lowest sales in Halo' s history

According to Halofollowers uploaded video, Halo 5 has the lowest sales in halo’ s history.

What do you think?

Biggest launch day digital sales
Biggest Halo Launch ever
Biggest xbox exclusive launch ever

No?

Let me get more in depth.

VGchartz which halo follow credits for their post says 1.4 or 1.5million copies the first week.
Nothing accounts for the digital sales.

Some EA games have 52% of their total sales as digital.

Hell EA made 77% of its Q1 2016 earnings from only Digital sales.
Halo 5 easily sold over 2million. Is it the worst? No.

Is it dying? This will get brought up. No.
Do we need another Sales X amount thread? Lord No

Not too surprised.

Not everyone has an xbox one.
Those who prefer classic gameplay have MCC
Those burned by MCC are unlikely to play game
Its generally become ‘cool’ to call Halo old, as well as to hate on halo for review sites and a number of youtubers.

343 needs to exceed expectation to get the ball rolling again, whereas right now even with a decent game, public opinion and negative word of mouth will continue to impact it.

…oh wait, Halofollower vid? Guy’s never right. People need to stop watching his vids.

I think he was just referring to hard copies. If you look at all the hard copies sold for all games over the years, you probably are going to see a decrease. The digital age is amoung us console users!

Exactly. It sucks soooo much but you’re seeing a good bit of the sales turning to digital. When H2/3 were launch, that wasn’t even a thing really (it was there but by no means popular).

And no company-Not just 343i or Microsoft-Has ever released a hard total on any of their digital sales. It just has not happened.

Vgchartz is a horrible site.

Wasn’t it kind of expected to sell well just not as well as the others anyway ?

I think think he’s grossly underestimating the digital sales as well.

Man I really like the way you write your posts, they feel so satisfying to read.

But for the sake of staying on topic, Halo is the only game I purchase in disk form because I have them all together on a shelf (Bungie and 343i separate, of course!) But everything else is digital.

Welcome to the digital download age son! My Xbox has a total storage of nearly 4000 GB, and instant launching is so much more convenient. The only benefit to purchasing disks is if you get perma-banned from xbox live, you lose all of your digital copies. And I have over $1000 worth of digital titles, so this terrifies me.

Thank you for liking my post writing skills
Anywho…All of my current Xbox one games are digital except Destiny, Halo TMCC and Battlefield 4.

I mean. I’m sure halo 5 did good in digital sales and the other halo 5 related merchandise.
It really doesn’t surprise me halo 5 is at number 8 And 9 for xboxs top played games.

There is no causal experience. Halo 5 should have launched with at least 2 social playlist.

The campaign idk… the hunt the truth ads are completely false.

Warzone is meh…

The top played games list is constantly changing. I have seen halo 5 go from being 9th to 2. Its all based on population numbers and those fluctuate.

I don’t own 343 or Microsoft stock so I don’t care, but threads like these perpetuate the nerd in Moms basement stereotype. Just stop, you are embarrassing yourself.

I do own stock in Microsoft and even I don’t care. MS is far more than a game company.

When will people stop posting these same click bait YouTube videos… literally the same video time after time. Do people not realize with the digital marketing it is impossible to get exact figures? Remember H5 wasn’t even available in disc unless you traded a digital code for it. The market place for games has really change and the majority are just buying them online now. All you can say is Halo 5 sold over 400 million in sales in the first week and it’s a safe bet a lot of that is profit.

Yeah they make Zunes too.

Look to the digital sales numbers.
Alot of gamers now don’t need/want a physical copy since it just takes up space and the games are not just attached to their console but their account. Meaning they don’t Need a physical copy anymore.

These sales chart/figure threads are annoying because half the time they don’t add in what the digital sales figures are.
I guess those numbers are just tougher to track…?
Probably not. Just more fear mongering.

This comment from the video sums it up for me:

“[I own the game and there are very good positives with the game] I agree with other people. This is what happens you remove Split-Screen, lie about campaign length, have a poor unlock system, don’t have forge at launch, remove so many game modes that have been in halo since day one, and pretty much remove Master Chief from campaign and then fail to flesh out any of the characters in the game. There is no King of The Hill, Oddball, Assault, Regicide, Headhunter, Firefight, Spartan ops, Race, Infection, Scoring in the Campaign [EDIT] Territories, Juggernaut, VIP, Extraction. We can no longer fully customize our Spartans or emblems. Lets face it Halo 5 is missing so much stuff from older Halo games that it doesn’t make any sense. There is no way this game was in development for 3 years.”

And before anyone calls out things in this paragraph:

  • Halo 5’s campaign was NOT 15 missions long. The three missions where you simply walk around and cannot fire your gun do not count as a mission. As far as I’m concerned, 343i only put those levels in there to make the illusion that the campaign was longer. This is the first Halo to implement this method into a campaign.
  • The unlock system is poor. I really don’t see any incentive to grind a game for REQ points just to get a randomized reward. In passed Halo games, if I did grind for something, I at least knew WHAT I was getting in the end.
  • There is a very little variety of multiplayer playlists and game types. If you think I’m wrong, then look at the playlists of past Halo’s and their game types. You WILL see a difference
  • We went from customizing (literally) everything in Halo 4 to changing only a helmet, armor, and visor in Halo 5
  • And I call bulls*it to the fact that this game was in development for 3 years. Halo 3 had a 3 year development plan and shipped with WAY more content and features

It sounds like they put more effort into the marketing for the game than the actual game itself…

Yeah I can agree I find it hard this game was in development for 3 years. Unless they don’t work full work weeks. Four day weekends every week and two hour lunch breaks…
