Has anyone noticed that the REQ packs have these really obnoxious cheering sounds and party sounds when being opened? It’s incredibly dirty. The fact cosmetic progression is forced through this system makes me extremely uncomfortable as someone that has had past issues with micro-transaction purchases, though that’s probably the point. I hate the adrenaline rush these lootboxes give me, but have to accept them if I want to earn the armour I want. Thankfully I’m able to ignore the IRL cash grabs etc, but its incredibly uncomfortable.
The sounds aren’t the only issue with them given the general appearance and function is designed to trigger the feeling of anxiety and adrenaline in people with gambling/MT issues.
I’ve had a few friends that had to stop playing as the noises etc were too much for them and were making them feel the same gambling/purchasing pulls they’ve struggled with in the past. Is there anyway to disable this aside from playing without sound?
It’s unfortunate a Halo game went down such a path. I don’t spend any money on packs either and I still get pissed off hearing that sound. A fine example of leveraging human psychology for devious purposes.

Yeah even though its not strictly pay-to-win, its annoying that they went that route. This was just before the Battlefront 2 bull, so my hopes are that they learned from EA since then. I used to play with a regular group of people, and I would criticize the REQ system. Some of the group disagreed with me and thought it wasn’t that bad, but man I hate randomized stuff in order to get cosmetics/weapons/vehicles. Kills the game a bit for me.
