Halo 5 LOOKS generic and here is why

Halo 5 LOOKS generic which is a shame because it is NOT a generic game. Halo 5 has a lot of beautiful art but the way 343 handles the graphics makes the art not even visible or stand out. There is too much glare from the sun causing disadvantages, objects (for the most part metal objects) reflect way too much light and are way too shiny. This ruins the beautiful art of Halo 5 and makes the game look generic. Graphics make a game look good/detailed but art makes a game beautiful and Halo used to be beautiful but now it just looks detailed because the art is not visible because they added a shiny layer on it and a lot of reflection. Destiny is a beautiful game simply because the art just looks amazing, graphically it is an okay game but the art makes the game stand out. A lot of maps in Halo 4 looked less good simply because of the way the graphics were implemented. Shiny objects that reflect light do not make a game look beautiful, it makes a game less beautiful and makes it look more similar to other games.

The Spartans in Halo used to look bad -Yoink- and strong but now they look like plastic. The black undersuits are gone and the armor colors are very shiny making them look like plastic soldiers. The black undersuits need to return and the armor of the spartans needs to look more like metal instead of plastic.

Weapon designs are an important part of making a game standout as well. For the most part 343 stayed close to the classic designs (AR, BR, DMR) but the Rocket Launcher has been changed completely and now looks like any other rocket launcher, which means it’s generic. It is a green tube with no character or personality anymore. It used to be an iconic weapon of Halo but now it’s gone which is sad. I highly suggest to change it and make it look more like the classic rocket launcher with the addition of the Smartscope.

The Hydra doesn’t look special or beautiful at all. It looks like a NERF gun which doesn’t fit the Halo universe at all. I would suggest to make some color changes to make it stand out more and make it look less like a NERF gun.

I really enjoy playing Halo 5 but the way the game looks at the moment makes me like it less. I always loved to just look around and explore the beautiful art of Halo but in Halo 5 it doesn’t look that special anymore, it looks generic and like something I have already seen. The game plays unique but it doesn’t look unique and this needs to change.

Please 343 read this and try to improve these issues with the graphics and art combinations.

I agree with you .I keep trying to play the beta but this game is all wrong its not halo I’m not going buying this game. I can’t stand listening to someone from 343 talk about halo.They have no idea what halo is.

i still can’t see anyone in interior structures from outside them, it’s pitch black.

i think its like rule number one that the environment on a map shouldn’t hinder gameplay, well if i can’t see blue team in Blue 1 then i’d say that’s a problem.

So true, the art style n halo 3 and reach was the best. I hate the way everything looks so complicated as well, like things don’t fit together. Halo 4 and Halo 5 have been graphically the best but the art style makes them look ugly.

The problems with colors of the blue team are going to be fixed, this has been confirmed

The only real problem is that its hard to see the colours on the Spartans that is it really.

Oh god, are they just going to make Spartans light blue and pink again like Halo4? Halo 5 spartans looked perfect ffs

The new rocket launcher is generic incarnate.

Master Chief’s unique armor in Halo 3 and all the armors in Halo Reach were the only ones that didn’t look plastic in some fashion. I fail to see how anything has changed. If anything the armor is a big improvement from Halo 3 and 4. The Hydra is a rocket launcher mixed with a revolver, I don’t see other games doing that in any fashion.

As for generic, Halo has always been “generic” to a point. Besides is generic supposed to mean? If someone on the outside of gaming were to look at Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 they would just say that one is soldiers killing each other and the other is robots killing each other. Halo was never something that was out there like it was the hipster of the bunch. It stole things that made older games good and worked them together in a way that worked just right. Now they are stealing from newer games and suddenly it is horrible? Come on.

Totally agree with the OP, especially in points of armor and weapons…

I mean Spartans looked best in Halo Reach with absolutely no doubt.
Then 343 said “Hey lets make Spartans look like Power Rangers”, but hey everyone is making mistakes so I don’t blame them that much for the Halo 4 look because it was their first game(and btw didacts armor looked awesome, still want it on my Spartan).
Then the community criticized this environment massive (I lost count on how much threads there were about color, design and black undersuits)
After that 343 launched the Halo 5 beta and they just look slightly better?!

Come on guys it’s getting harder and harder to believe you actually read these threads each day, where is this “Community” you’re listening to?

I’m happy that you’re continuing this game series but please stop trying to steal things from other shooters (Ground Pound = Air Stomp [Crysis]) and opening Halo to a wider player base
This isn’t working Halo has it’s own Fanbase and by increasing the number of new buyers you’ll loose the core fanbase so try to keep the old beloved things and bring in some innovation that is coming from your own ideas.

I disagree, Halo always had a unique looking art and it still does but because the graphics are so shiny it makes it look like other games making it look less unique. If they just toned down the shiny graphics and reduced the amount of lightning so we could see the art than it would look beautiful, now we just see the graphics for the most part instead of the art.
