One of the best things about halo is it’s verticality and creative way people found to get up higher via jumps that required some practice and skill. Clamber basically takes that aspect of the game away.
It’s not automatic, you either tap the Jump button when you’re at the ledge or hold the Jump button a second time in mid air to set up for the clamber(Depending on how you set that in the options menu.), but they did remove crouch jumping with the ground pound which irks me but w/e not gonna let it bother me. I’ve let too much bother me about everything and I’m trying to be more chill. I only recently started opening up to Halo 5’s added mechanics, I’m not gonna go back to hating just about everything that isn’t how it was in Halo 2-3.
Clamber is designed for ledges that you would NEVER be able to make, Even while crouch jumping. Trick jumps will probably still be there, As in, Creative ways to get to vantage points without clambering.
It’s purpose is to increase the ways we can move around the map, And that is Excellent. Movement is just as important as shooting in an Arena game and allowing more ways to move around the map is a good start to reinforce this idea.

Not necessarily, you have to be looking down and holding crouch for ground pound, I don’t think it will be an issue.
Clamber is the worst thing that will ever happen to halo. yea it will give you more versatility but what will they do next? Cut jump radius, to add a more relevant clamber system? I hope not, for me sprint was fun in reach, and clamber is okay in COD but both have no place in halo frameworks (i.e. the main halos).
why do people not understand that this isnt the halo 2 sandbox? maps are desgoned specifically around the games mechanics. obviously clamber would ruin halo 2 and 3 trick jumps but halo 5s maps will be designed to have their own trick jumps with clamber in mind.
Why would you be worried about clamber? OF all the SAs slide, charge, and ground pound are the only things that have the potential to “break” the game. But even they most likely won’t. They’ve balanced charge and ground pound pretty well I think from what I’ve seen and read…I’m skeptical of slide though. But ultimately they won’t break the game cause it still is arena style, with equal starts, no loadouts, etc.

Clamber’s purpose is not to increase the ways to move around map, its purpose is to make moving around the map easier. Clamber is not necessary in giving players more movement options. There are more, better ways to giving players new routes. As I’ve been watching Halo 5 gameplay, every time the player uses Clamber, I always think “Man, if the map designers had made a little bit more effort, they could’ve made that jump so much more interesting without resorting to Clamber”.
Any ledge that you would never be able to make, you can’t make because you aren’t supposed to. If there is a jump you can’t quite make, it’s there because you’re not supposed to make it. If you need a jump the player can make, you can design the jump in such a way that a player can make it. I can guarantee you that any jump that’s only possible with Clamber can, with reasonable redesign, be made possible without Clamber.
Map geometry is the best tool for designing interesting jumps. There is so much you can do with it, and the best thing about it is the subtlety. With Clamber, every high ledge and every long jump just shouts “Try me! Try me! I’m totally possible!” Any jump that is possible with Clamber is an obvious jump. There are no subtle jumps with Clamber that require creativity. And if there is no creativity, what’s the purpose of Clamber.
Saying anything about being able to do things you couldn’t do before is pointless. You couldn’t do those things before because the designers didn’t want you to do those things. If they had thought being able to do those things would have added something to gameplay, they would have made those things possible. This is especially true for jumps, because when it comes to movement, I can tell you that the ability to run and jump can do almost anything, as long as you have the right geometry.

Why? Its exactly like crouch jumping but with actual animations.

Oh, really? I never noticed when the Ground Pound was triggered he was looking down. I thought it was automatic that when he did crouch it made him look down for the targeting reticle for groundpound to happen. That eases my worries a bit more now, thanks!

Can you come with a valid argument instead of saying “it should have been there since #1”?
