Halo 5 Local Network

Hi Guys,

Please delete this if there is already a thread about this. I didn’t found it…

So I heard that its not possible to play on local Multiplayer in Halo 5 with my friends. I if I want to make a LAN I have to connect with the Internet.
If everyone have his own Xbox we can’t play together in the same room if the internet doesn’t work.

Please tell me that this isn’t the truth. It would kill halo multiplayer like it was.

Thanks

I think it is the truth.

I really wonder that nobody cares about that. It’s just a thing that made halo, halo. Don’t understand why they don’t offer this feature

LAN is not a defining feature of the game. Halo is not going to die without it. Stop this.

I’ve also seen rumors that its the Xbone that doesn’t support LAN. Not Halo specifically.

Well without the decent split-screen besides 2 players, Halo lan and local network play is gonna damper real bad… however custom games remains, and generally modern family that can afford a gaming systems and set up generally have a wifi connection. (343 Industries and Xbox had done the studies pre-release of the xbox one)

So what’s if you play on a tournament. 4v4 and the server got a disconnect, you were leading. Ohh that’s no problem, just restart the match…
Damn that’s -Yoink-, even a gameboy can connect to another one, but the xbox can’t.
Good halo times are over.
Hopefully you’ll patch that

When OP said that it’ll “kill Halo multiplayer like it was,” they may have just meant that it will kill classic LAN experiences, and that would be entirely correct.

It’s more an xbox one thing than a Halo thing, but yes you can achieve a local connection. It’s not “system link” but it’s a low latency connection that has the same result as system link so it’s a bit of a misconception that’s been floating around recently.

Simply connect up all your xbox’s to the router via ethernet cables. If you don’t have enough ports on your router, you can connect a second router to one of the ports on the main router (get your friend to bring one) and then use its ports as well.

I haven’t tested if it works offline but it certainly works if your router provides an internet connection too (If you own a router but don’t have internet you’re doing it wrong?), you just invite each other as if it was xbox live but the xbox is smart enough to figure out that you’re on the same network. You end up with close to 0 ping on a local network, pretty much what system link achieves.

P.S It even works on wifi, but your ping might be a bit higher than the ethernet cables, pretty much depends how good your router is.

To the best of my knowledge, all Halo 5 games (including customs) are hosted on the dedicated servers, so an Internet connection is a must.

As an aside, I tried to host a “LAN” party with the Master Chief Collection today, but Xbox Live issues prevented the profiles from seeing one another. Not cool.

A few Xbox 360s and good old System Link saved the day.

Just a simple Lan feature thats all we want:)

To confirm:

Indeed, it would be so correct that there would be no need to say it. “Removing LAN would kill LAN!” is a completely redundant statement.

Maybe a rephrase is in order. Readers shouldn’t have to guess at the meaning of the OP.

And readers shouldn’t have to go through your nitpicky comments, but we still do.

No, the removal of xbox live multiplayer would kill multiplayer as it was.

Its just one bad ingredient in the spoiled soup that is Halo 5

So the real question is. does xbox one support LAN?

The short answer is. No, no it doesn’t.

But As I see it, people are using this as an opportunity to jump down Halo 5’s throat.

Get a grip guys… your xbox ones does not support LAN thus Halo 5 does not. It’s a possibility in the future.

I’m Not sure, but I think Call of Duty has a system Link mode on Xbox one

Couldn’t you just start a custom lobby and invite everyone into it? It’s not like it’s going to be hard to connect all the Xbox One’s to an internet connection.

Luckily for you, you don’t have to eat it and you can go down the buffet line to find something you like.
