I was thinking halo 5 Limited edition came with a disc steel book ect and that would have a spot for a disc in it ok but if the LCE was planned to come with no disc what would we use it for. what if the LCE steel book didn’t hold a disc they planed it for decoration now if we get a disc and we cant hold it in there. Do you think 343 changed the steel book for the LCE before they said you can trade it in for a disc or are we screwed with the steel book?
Good question, but im sticking with digital.

I have no idea what you’re asking but I’ll try to answer.
The LCE originally came w/ digital download code and a steel case that was supposed to be used for display and/or decoration, nothing else. They didn’t think that people cared about the actual disc itself because the disc will be in their systems 90% of the time. Plus there are huge benefits to going digital, like being able to play on other Xboxes without the disc, never having to worry about putting the disc in to play or scratching or losing the disc, and best of all, being able to preload and play the game at midnight when it comes out.
However they underestimated the emotional needs of neckbeards everywhere. Social media lit up because some loud fans “just wanted the disc” for mostly nonsensical reasons. Now you’ll still get the steel book in the LCE, which you can keep, you can just trade in your digital download code (which comes on a card) for a physical copy.
Who knows how that process will work though and when you’ll get to play Halo 5. But who cares about that, man, the disc… the disc is all that matters.

He’s essentially asking if the steel book in the LCE is an actual steel book with the plastic insert to hold the disc or if it is just a novelty prop.
I’m sure it’s the same steelbook they were planning to send with the $100 limited edition that comes with a disk. They wouldn’t create a separate steelbook that did not have the capability to hold a disk.

It isn’t creating a separate steel book though. It’s just skipping a step in the assembly process. Same steel book, just without the plastic insert inside. It might seem impractical, but in the grand scheme of things might have saved thousands of dollars.

I would imagine they would just use the same steelbook as the LE, sometimes skipping a process during assembly can actually cost money rather than save it.

That’s exactly correct, from my experiences. It probably wouldn’t have been worth skipping this step in production. All I’m saying is my money is placed on them being the same.
More than likely it is. But I wouldn’t rule anything out at this point.
I think this time I will go digital to be able to switch from Halo: MCC (on a disk) to Halo: 5 without needing to take out a disk.
well we are spending 250 we should know if its something we can use or something to look at
