I finished my playthrough of H5 on Legendary Solo today, and while I was at work pumping gas, I was thinking about what the ending might have shown us. First, we have Cortana humming in the background. She is obviously humming “Olly, Olly, Oxen Free”. Then we have a giant planet, and another Halo ring in the foreground. Here are my thoughts to this: Cortana is calling Blue Team back to her to manipulate them to do her bidding, claiming it’s the “right” thing to do (justifying it herself), or its the original Halo ring (not from CE): Installation 00, and that is where that mysterious ship from one of the Terminals crashed. Cortana thinks she knows what it is, so she is calling Blue Team to help her unlock it. Do correct me if I am wrong about the Terminal thing. Or…the planet in the background is another Forerunner planet, or a Shieldworld in disguise.
What do you guys think? Lastly, at the end of the credits, 343 thanks us for their support and says “See you on Sanghelios!” Could that be indicating where Halo 6 first starts off?
There are several threads on this already. But kinda shooting a hole in the basis for the rest of your idea, is that what she’s humming is the piano music intro for halsey’s lab.
There is no original Halo ring known as Installation 00, that is the Ark’s designation. The ship you refer to crashed on Installation 04, which blew up.

I thought there might be, but I don’t really want to spend hours sifting through past Waypoint threads just to find those.
I applaud you for replaying the game to get through it on legendary but honestly I don’t know 343 is thinking other than making me want to play CE through 3 again
That humming is clear evidence that Cortana actually is Quiet from MGS V. That explains why she was basically naked for the first four games
Seriously now, my theory is that Cortana plans to use the Composer in order to transform all the senscient life in the galaxy in her AI biatches. She found Flood specimens imprisoned in that Halo instalation and she intends to unleash it through the galaxy, in order to “incentive” people to accept being composed, since that’s the only safe way to resist the Flood. Afterwards, she intends to activate the Halo ring in order to wipe out the Flood and all the surviving senscient beings that resisted her offer.
I also believe that we are still going to see that storyline about the Master Chief going rogue and being hunted down by Locke. A couple possible ways for how that could happen are:
The Master Chief thinks Cortana is his responsibility and he knows her better than anyone. He won’t accept ONI’s interference and will deal with her in his own way.
The Master Chief thinks Cortana is too powerfull and can’t be defeated by direct means. The only way she could be defeated is by treachery, so he will make her believe that he changed his mind and decided to side with her. In order to be believable, that plan involves becoming an enemy to ONI.
My theory is that the Cortana shown in halo 5 is actually one of the broken fragments that came off the actual Cortana in Halo 4 when she was flooding the didacts network. From the legendary ending. I think the planet is important because it looks somewhat flood infested. You can even hear the howl of a flood reminiscent from Halo 3 when the ring turns on.
My idea is that Cortana will try to speak with Mendicant bias and use the flood to fight against the galaxy for whatever reason and basically. She’ll be betrayed, by mendicant bias. Knowing that the mantle belongs to humanity. Leading to a fight between Cortana, a gravemind and mendicant bias. The gravemind will assimilate Cortana and gain this ginormous amount of knowledge and became a Proto-Keymind. The flood, now actually obtaining forerunner technology will grow strong almost like they were back in their prime. Bias will seek for the Chief’s help and ask for something to fight against the new Forerunner/Flood threat. And all alien species in the galaxy will need to make an alliance, to fight against the flood. After winning, the galaxy will enter a Golden Age of peace. With co-operation that lasts for years to come.

I was attempting to think this far ahead, but I couldn’t haha. You have good thoughts regarding this.

I don’t know why people keep saying its Cortana when you listen closely it sounds just like Guilty Spark. If you’ve read Silentium then you’d know that he’s actually alive and didn’t die.

I’m not sure about this. Spark was critically damaged after we Spartan Lasered him, and was free floating through space with rubble from the ring when he was discovered by a UNSC ship (can’t recall which one) That ship tried to interrogate him and get information on the Didact, all the while Spark implemented himself into their ship and then took control of it. It was made out to seem as if he was urgently seeking out the Librarian. Maybe the Librarian has something to do with Spark controlling Cortana? It wouldn’t be a far fetched feat for the Librarian to pull off honestly, and she would have an incredible amount to gain.
I bet since the Covie war is FINALLY finally over, humans and elites are at a true truce. No more praising forerunner tech. Halsey will be the only one who will do that. And A.I.s showing any form of insubordination will be fried. We will resort to lesser aware A.I.
Definitely see brutes again. Maybe flood, too.
we can anticipate a return of the flood, and a lot of the Hunt the truth stuff to really come into play with Halo 6’s campaign, my theory is that halo 5 was totally fine and was advertised properly, but the adverts was to show H5 and H6
