First I’ll start with multiplayer since its been the pride and joy of halo.
Multiplayer:
Halo 5 just isn’t “halo” multiplayer. It’s way too fast paced, its got a lot of borderline p2w features, and it lacks that mlg heart and soul where its all about skill. (The p2w feature are micro transactions that give you new guns, armor, exp boosts, camos, and more. So if your a rich kid you can buy your way to hit a level where others would put hours and hours in to get. And sure if you’re good at halo you’ll still be good, but its too easy for newbies to pick up. It’s like halo meets call of duty and they did a bunch of speed. It also lacks that great ranking system halo 3 had where you actually had to win and be good to rank up. The classic modes are still there but its not the same feel. Halo was taking away from its roots completely and rebuilt. They threw out that classic shooter feel by allowing you to aim down the sights and boost around at the speed of light (in a way that’s a complete copy of advanced warfares exo suit). A lot of things should have been armor abilities, such as the ground smash, boost melee attack, the exo suit boost, etc… It would’ve added in more diversity to the game.
They butchered character customization. All you can do is change your helm, outfit , and visor. You can’t change shoulders, knees, body, Accessories, etc… And you can’t custmize your unique emblem. They are all preset emblems with preset color schemes you can throw on.
Campaign:
The campaing can be fun at times, but again it doesn’t feel like halo. There is still good halo in the dialogue from gameplay and cutscenes, but besides that it’s an over the top sci-fi Michael Bay movie. You got explosions everywhere, people making dramatic “leaps of faith”, and Spartans running into battle -Yoinking!- kung-fu fighting the covenant and other Spartans. The story is also way too short and ends up just being depressing when SPOILERS you find out Cortana is the bad guy now. The missions feel quite repetitive with lack of any real story telling. Best part about the story is that Nathan Fillion is back and with a bigger role.
P.S. i m sorry everything is cluttered I was just ranting because of how peeved I am.
Final Verdict: 5/10
The game isn’t complete -Yoink-, but its not good either so I had to just put it in the middle. It hurt me to do this cause I’ve loved Halo since 1. But Halo 4 and 5 have just let me down so much. 343 needs to stop making Halo they’re own game on just keep building on the game Bungie laid out for them

They have, it’s called the Master Chief Collection. Why make this game any bigger than it already is when they already have 3 types of classic Halo on the Xbox One?
If you don’t like Halo anymore just leave already. No one here cares you don’t like it. No one here is going to be like… oh I guess I will stop playing because this complete stranger doesn’t like it any more… these little “not halo” soap box speeches are getting old and lame.

Define Halo for me because plot twist, equal starts, equal abilities, and teamwork have much more to do with halo than cosmetics.
Also warzone isnt p2w. If you want more req just play and sell the cards you dont want. I get a gold pack every 3-4 games and the req system forcably balances the game to prevent people from spawning power weapons and tanks every 2 seconds.
IF you want the old games, go play MCC. Maybe that’s what you should be playing since its only changed once in 5 games. Whats the point in making a new game if nothings going to change? Really. Its a great game. Sorry you don’t like it. Buts its fun and it is very much Halo. Halo’s Feel is essentially making it hard to kill other players due to shields and such. In that respect its Very much halo. Its just been brought out of the dark ages. You can have that slow moving stuff of Halo 1 thru 3.
Hey, games are going to change and improve with the times people, you’ve gotta realize that. Whether you like the new game or not is your opinion, but man there are A LOT of you guys who are taking Halo 5 very negatively. I haven’t played it yet because I’m getting it as a Christmas gift so I can’t contribute my opinion about gameplay, but I can say that from the trailers the game looks awesome and I have high hopes for it. At least there are people out there who like it, for example every video game website I’ve seen so far plus professional video gamers.

Some just can’t get past the old… Halo is walk, crouch, jump, and trigger pull a BR and any thing else “isn’t halo”
