This is meant as a thread for 343 to look at and consider but I’d also love to hear what the rest of you think on these suggestions. I’d also like to hear any of your feedback/suggestions on this subject as well!
I also have other topics on the rest of the enemies but altogether it was too big so I’ve separated them into their own topics to keep in line with the letter limit.
First off, I really like the improvements 343 has made to the enemies in Halo 5. I’m going to mention Halo Reach a lot in these various threads but this is because this is when most of the Covenant was at their prime gameplay wise. Granted, this game only had Covenant enemies and no Flood or Forerunner/Prometheans so it makes sense this would be the case.
I know the team is plagued by time/game restraints but if most of these features could be added upon each other over time then that would be amazing! (because I gotta face that not all of these are gonna be added all at once in one game)
Jackals
Not much about them was changed but the one noticeable tweak was the ability for shielded Jackals to melee anyone close to them which is something they really needed! (gives applause)
That said, here are some changes/improvements I think they could use…

Berserker Jackals
In Halo 4 when the space base by the Halo Installation was being attacked by the Didact and his Covenant lackeys their was an interesting encounter seen between a Marine and Jackal. The vicious monster (jackal) leapt forward at the marine with ferocious rage and to say the least, the marine was simply overwhelmed. My question is this, why don’t we have the same encounter against the (raptor like) jackals? They could be done in a similar style to the raging brutes of Halo 2. Except they’d be smaller and therefore harder to hit… (nightmares ensue)
My thought is to place the jackals just like this in some areas but also maybe make jackals who have lost energy to their shields to go into this same fit of rage. In fact, maybe a Jackal with a red shield with the strength of a spartan’s shield could be made and you would know to be careful not to burst his bubble or else… -
Sniper Jackals Aesthetics
Bring back the jackals we all know and love from the previous Halo games and put them into the fitting role of sniper. Now I know this maybe a hit to your artistic pride but in my personal opinion the red-eyed face mask on the snipers looks very silly. Plus, I don’t imagine a raptor-like looking species wanting to just stand around waiting over many countless hours. The Jackals of old fit this role very well though I believe and they could essentially be the ones holding Binary Rifles and Carbines. Also, give them that eyepiece they had in Halo Reach and perhaps even that red glow to it you love to add to make the snipers easier to kill. -
Stronger Sniper Jackals
While were on the topic of snipers I’d like to say that I wish they were a little more intimidating, at least on Heroic/Legendary. If you have full shields then chances are its going to take two shots for them to take you down. I can see the reason for this but I want them to have the same ability and accuracy to (most of the time) get that annoying one-shot headshot to make them a lot more intimidating. -
Skirmishers
It would also be amazing if the Skirmishers were brought back into the Halo games. They had an interesting look and gameplay and I miss them. Or… I suppose some of the current (raptor-like) Jackals could fill that role instead…
