Halo 5 is the worst esports halo game.

Competitive Halo in the past was all about precision weapons, map control and team work… Halo 5 is all about automatic weapons. Seriously, the most used weapons in this game are the Storm Rifle, SMG and AR. The SMG and Storm Rifle spawn like every 15 seconds so everyone has one all the time.

343, make an esports pistol only start and drastically reduce the amount of automatic use because this sh*t is ridiculous. Its bad enough we play maps and game modes that the pro’s don’t play.

Have you seen the HWC all I saw was pistol on that kill feed for at least 50% of the games

lol so your saying they shouldnt utilize weapons in the game and that it should be nothing but Pistols/AR?

I don’t understand why some want Halo to be a one weapon type game… to each their own I suppose.

Nah man, can’t you tell? Halo 5 has the best balance because I can finally get kills with my autos! Now I don’t have to get good shots on anyone with a precision weapon, I’ll just sprint at them and spray them!!!

Question: What is the most balanced FPS on the market now in terms of guns? BO3 or Halo 5?

Yea your right man, they should just have a BR thats easy to use and dominates everything.

So I looked up some random pro gameplay footage.

Already noticing tons of AR / Storm Rifle crouching and people being too afraid to challenge other guns with the Magnum at long range (“utility weapon” rofl).

But this is Waypoint and most people simply don’t get it.

Lol, where did I say I wanted the BR? The Halo CE sandbox is the best. 1 utility weapon, with different niche weapons on the map. You didn’t have the BR/DMR/LR/CR which ARE STRAIGHT UPGRADES. The pistol in H5 has the highest skill gap, yet is beaten by everything else (it’s perfect kill time is longer than every other gun). Just keep believing that autos being strong makes for good balance, noob weapons shouldn’t be rewarded. Also, switching your weapon to the AR is not a skill, I can already tell someone is going to post that.

No, balance is every gun being equal. Go back to COD.

This is a joke right? Halo 5 is too competitive if anything. People still mainly use precision weapons, it’s just that autos are good now and are a viable options. I don’t know where you got your idea that halo 5 isn’t competitive, but play reach or 4 (extremely casual halo games). In my opinion (and many others as well), halo 5 is the most competitive halo game of all time.

Because they don’t like change. Bungie sucked when it came to weapon balance.

He didn’t say halo 5 isn’t competitive. What he said was how can you consider this as an esport when they have all these noob friendly guns. I’m willing to bet, that if Halo 5 had everything that the other halos had at launch, this game wouldn’t be considered to be so competitive. It’s just there are no options for casuals to play in.

Wow, good job at generalizing. Nothing is good about autos being viable compared to the pistol. An easy to use gun (ALL autos) SHOULD NOT be able to beat the pistol (a gun with a high skill gap). Why should people using easier guns be rewarded?

Competitiveness and esports go hand in hand so saying that halo 5 is not a good esports game is basically saying that halo 5 is not competitive.

Adapt or die.

I’d have to agree that Ce is pretty close to ideal. There are some minor balance adjustments I would make, but overall it’s pretty close.

What particularly interests me about Ce is there is potential for a relatively skillful automatic in that game. The Plasma Rifle has to lead shots, and you’re rewarded for hitting headshots even with shields, so someone who can land all of their headshots with that gun gets a killtime almost twice as fast as the bodyshot killtime. The problem is the completely unnecessary bloom and spread render this impractical and fairly random.

Instead of fixing that they just dumbed the gun down further in Halo 2, giving it more spread and removing its headshot modifier. Then they never remedied it since. So your left with an automatic that could potentially be respectable, yet is always just a blue bullet hose instead. Halo 5 takes it a step further by giving it an insanely fast bodyshot killtime.

so because close range weapons are good at close range there noob weapons got it

  1. Esports goes beyond just weapons, so I’ll lol at those thinking “noob” weapons don’t make it so.

  2. Why have autos if they’re not going to be viable? In halo 1-3 I rarily if ever used them, in h5 I still use pricieion much more however now I can actually feel satisfied with an auto for a change.

  3. I’d say you people are dead wrong on autos being used so much, especially on the pro level simply cuz they don’t have the cross shooting range that a pistol has. To each their own I guess, but HCS is a good reference for that.

  4. Just an emphasis, why have autos if they have no use? Each gun should be able to beat one another depending on the scenario, so what if a gun takes more skill? Doesn’t mean it should always win if the user puts himself in a bad position (which makes the whole “noob getting rewarded arguement invalid”)So I’ll lol at those saying so.

I’m not saying all pros are right, but go and ask them their opinions on the auto balance in this game. I’m a moderator and subscriber in Snakebite and Frosty’s streams, subscribed to Royal2, Lethul, Snipedown, Roy, and Spartan on Twitch. And I follow/frequent other streams as well, including Naded, Maniac, Ace, Stellur, Commonly, etc. All of those except for the famous Naded rant will tell you that they are fine with autos and how they are balanced. It’s pretty logical. If you are close range with an AR, Storm, SMG, etc. you should be able to melt someone. Two things that are ever brought up that they would like to see TESTED (read: not definitely an issue to them) would be an increased spawn timer on SMG/Storm (and shotgun) and/or a range nerf. Damage in the intended rage is fine by them.
Again, not saying the pros are always right. But they do have a pretty good grasp on what makes a competitive Halo.

No, because they require no effort they’re noob weapons.

Say what you want about the Boltshot in Halo 4, it was a CQC weapon that required actual aim.

No -Yoink-, but weapons are an important part, and even then all the people claiming that Halo 5 is the “most competitive” aren’t even looking past the weapons and examining things like enemy / team spawn manipulation, weapon nading, so on. Things past games have done better.
