halo 5 is the game that sold less of the saga?
The saga? So H4 or H5 sold more?
Halo as a franchise is struggling. It may never be as big as it was in the glory days and the low sales of the Xbox hardware not helping either.
Halo 5: Guardians sold more then Halo 3 so no. If you ask someone on the forums who decides to rant without research then they would say yes.

Official sales numbers were never released (though I did see a 1.4 million first week number floating around), only total revenue which doesn’t mean much because less people could buy more expensive versions and push that number higher. Everything else indicates it sold less than the other games in the franchise, take the playtime for example. Halo 3 had 40 million hours played in the first week, Halo 4 had 31.4 million hours played in 5 days and Halo 5 had 21 million. Either less people were playing or people played it once and stopped, neither are good.

could this be partially down to the lower xbox 1 sales? being as its an exclusive x1 game and whe nthe console was released it wasnt exactly cheap…

Where are you getting this information from?

halo 5 didn’t sell more than 3, It sold the least amount of copies in the entire main series. it made more money from controlers and limited editions but halo 3 sold more copies than 5.

Nope
So who would be able to track this. Because NPD does not even track digital or console sales. I am just curious where anyone is getting their information

This is a big reason no one knows sales number. We only know a few things.
It definitely sold more than 1 million copies in the US alone first week (some people say 1.5) as NBA 2k was second on the list for October NPD and it sold 1 million copies.
It sold about 3 million copies in the US in November, from all the data I can get. Syndicates second month sales were AT LEAST 2.5 million and Need for Speed’s launch sales were about 3.4 million. Halo 5 is in the middle of that.
Also to keep in mind, it has the record for digital sales on Xbox Live. Online sources like Amazon are not counted by NPD. This most likely means that by the end of November, Halo 5 had sold AT LEAST 5 million copies. Christmas would have boosted that. But again, this is the lowest probable total, encompassing both online, digital, and physical sales, so nothing can be guaranteed

There are more XBones in circulation than there were 360’s at the time of Halo 3’s release… so to answer your question: No.

The only connection to the XBone’s bad rep and Halo 5 selling more poorly than any main title (including ODST) is that the XBone has sold far worse outside of the U.S. Here in the U.K. both Halo 5 and Xbone have sold very poorly, whereas around the time of Halo 3 we were xbox and Halo crazy.
halo 5 also sold more than Halo 3, but MS also counted the Console bundles towards the total for Halo 5 and NOT Halo 3.
It definitely didn’t do as well as they hoped, especially since they haven’t disclosed sales numbers as well as the fact that it’s already fallen to the bottom tier of the most played games list.
Oh man, I almost got really confused there. I read it as “Sega” and not “Saga”…
As for it being the lowest selling main game? Who can be sure without the actually sales numbers which I’m sure we’ll never get.

Or you know there are more shooters and big name titles out then there were back in 2007. People seem to casually forget that Halo 3 was pretty the only shooter worthwhile on consoles. Now theres Battlefield, CoD, Battlefront and just about every game under the sun as MP now.

Halo 3 lived through Cod 4 which jumpstarted it, CoD 5 (-Yoink!- zombies), and Modern Warfare 2 (put the series where it is today). Also competed with Bad Company 2 which was reasonably popular. Halo 5 can barely compete with Battlefront and that’s a joke.
