If you don’t like Halo 5’s new core mechanics, complaining about it on the forums with utterly pointless posts such as: “Halo is dead!” or “Remove x, y and z” will get you nowhere!
Let me explain: Halo 5 is 343’s game. It is their vision and a group of negative people on the Internet aren’t going to sway their vision.
This is it people. The beta, while not representative of a full product in terms of polish or overall content is still a very good indicator of the final product’s core gameplay and mechanics.
You can kick and scream or you can post well written essays that explain exactly why you don’t like what 343 have created but at the end of the day it won’t mean squat.
This is what 343 want and I have to say from browsing the internet and speaking with my friends and their friends etc. This is what the broader community wants too.
This beta was released for testing weapon and ability mechanics so unless you are going to leave constructive criticism then your anger enduced rage-mail will be for naught.
Sure, I love the beta but there are things that I would like to have changed too such as the removal of kill-cams and forcing 1 nade spawns etc.
Get a grip people, you’re not making Halo 5, 343 is so have a cup of concrete and spend your money elsewhere if you don’t like it.
Halo 2/3 were great but they have had their day, move on.
Coming from a person (me) who didn’t really care much for Halo Reach and HATED Halo 4.
I have got to say the Halo 5 Beta has made me fall in love with Halo all over again! I think 343 has learnd alot about what makes Halo, Halo!
A 10k population after two months is neither wanted by the community nor 343. I want 343 to succeed. I don’t want them to lose their jobs. Sadly, they’re pretty much done after this.
I agree and not, with the title :
-The Beta is a good beginning and I feel so good when I play Halo 5…
-and not because we can’t know what the final game will be like
Yeah, this is what the game will be when it comes out. Nothing is getting removed and nothing is getting added from here on out.
But no. I can tell you that this is not what the broader community wants. They want Halo and not a mashup of different games. This game has so many aspects from other games, it doesn’t resemble Halo anymore. This game has more hate pre-launch than H4 did. It has the most hate out of any Halo I’ve seen pre-launch. There are people who like it because it’s new and flashy at the moment, but those people who like that stuff are also the people who will always move onto the next new and flashy game that comes out a few months later. If that is who 343 wants to attract, then sure, they’ve done it. But if they want to attract the people who are going to play for the games entire lifespan, buy the DLC, and forever love Halo, this is not the game that community wants. This game isn’t going to be a glorious return of Halo and it’s not going to be a popular eSport. If you look at Twitch, games like Farming Simulator and Clash of Clans have more views than this game. What does that tell you about how interesting this game is to watch.
At a high level this game is very stagnant and boring. When people don’t know how to play and just run around, yes, this game can be interesting, but not when you are getting paid to stay alive while still killing and winning games. This game is not going to be fun to watch at a high level because the abilities are primarily used for defense and survival. This game isn’t competitive even though there are many aspects which could make the game very competitive.
The game needs basically full customization. Let the players create no SA gametypes with customizable player characteristics. Change individual gun damage stats, and everything. Then with some small and tight forge maps, the game can actually have some competitive games since the gunplay with the BR/pistol is spot on. Sure, this would create a separation of the competitive community from the casual, but if 343 insists on making casual games, this is what is going to happen. It is impossible to make a casual pvp game competitive.
I dont care how much 343I changes Halo.
They can make it into a 3rd person shooter for all i care. But they have to know one thing. They will lose customers everytime they change things too much.

Except that Halo: Reach and 4 are above Halo 2 and CE in sales, but keep that line of thinking going.
You make the mistake several other people have made and assume that the change of game mechanics alone contributed to the decrease in Halo’s multiplayer population. You’d have to have hard, verifiable proof and data to make that claim. All anyone has is low player pop in Halo 4 and their best guess as to why.

Oh really? Halo 4 sold 10 million units- thats bad? And yes i dislike halo 4s multiplayer. But guardians is just fun. (and i suck at it)
The halo population started its decline during halo 3 when cod4 was released and wow was extremely popular. Bungie’s initial reaction to this was reach, thus damaging and segmenting the halo population even worse than it already was.
bungie knew they couldn’t continue the halo franchise the way it was and they certainly could not change it to something that everyone wanted because doing so would result not only in damaging the halo franchise, but also damaging bungie by making them responsible.
Fast foward to present day.
Destiny.
What kept halo on top was that it was the only guy in town and it was fresh. No one else had the scale and popularity that halo did at that time. 343 is doing what they can to save halo when bungie couldn’t. The truth is halo isn’t what it used to be, nor could it be.
None of what I just stated is fact. Simply theory based on observation.
I don’t give a crap what 343i vision is, the fact is that this is not what the Halo fans want. If I ant to play a generic scifi game with ADS I’d play Destiny or Call of Duty. It’s getting to be very clear that 343i does not understand the Halo franchise or it’s fanbase.
> The halo population started its decline during halo 3 when cod4 was released and wow was extremely popular.
That is not true, Halo 3 was competing very well against Call of Duty 4 and 5. World of Warcraft also had no effect on Halo 3’s popularity. What started to ruin Halo’s population didn’t start to fall untill sometime after Halo: Reach was released. Halo 4 also helped to turn people awat from the series becayse Halo was starting to lose it’s charm and identity. Halo 5 is continuing that downward trend.

The only thing smart scope does is tighten bullet spread and thats about it.

And that right there is a problem. It shouldn’t do that sat all in a Halo game, infact ADS should not be in a mainline Halo game at all.

I want Halo 5 to have classic scope but I don’t think it makes this COD.

My point is that halo started experience it’s first real competition for its population. Before h3 halo was basically unchallenged. H3 is when halo “started” it’s decline.
I apologize for the misleading title but it did what it was supposed to do and we are all having a merry discussion.
Maybe I should give away Halo Reach on Xbox One as an apology.
On topic, I think that the decline of later title’s populations cannot be attributed soley to small gameplay changes. The gaming industry is a dynamic environment and with a larger casual population now than back in 2007, it’s a lot more likely that a large number of players will migrate whenever the next AAA game is released.

Nope, Halo 3 was when Halo was at it’s peak in popularity, sale’s and population numbers prove that.

Halo 3 sold more copies than any other Halo game to date.

Never denied that. What we see in the present starts many years ahead due to market trends and forecasts. What became apparent during the years of halo 3 was that other games were offering something that halo didn’t, and as many would hate to admit, couldn’t. Halo was, in comparison, simple.
The games I mentioned were a threat to halo in the future and as many would have to agree, extremely successful during the decline of halo.
