Halo 5 is sustaining higher player levels than H4

Source
This guy on Reddit posted the a CSR distribution graph that he made using the Tracking API
In the comments he went on to explain that at least 131k players have ranked (played 10 matches) of layer so far this season.
In comparison. Halo 4 was at sub-100k total players at this time in its lifespan.
He’s going to try to get similar information from the other playlists, and maybe even figure out the total number of unique users…
No these numbers aren’t earth shattering, but they do suggest the sustainment model is working somewhat, and that the multiplayer is generally more enjoyable this time around. It’s quite impressive that H5 can out perform H4 in this regard, despite selling far fewer copies… Makes me wonder how healthy our population would be had split screen made it in, along with the missing gamemodes.

It also shows a nearly perfect bell curve… Though some would prefer an distribution gives each division a similarly sizes population… I disagree with that because you’d end up having people who currently play at at platinum level in the same division as the best players in the world.

I’m not surprised, Halo 5 multiplayer is great fun and I very rarely hear people in my parties complain about the game. When I think about some matches I’ve had in the past few days it is just a bunch of people having a great time…the overall vibe just feels more positive to me compared to what I remember it being with H4.

Awesome. Good to hear it’s still salvageable.
Christmas probably gave it a boost.

Not surprising. Halo 5 is great. New multiplayer modes, new gameplay mechanics, a steep learning curve combined with a very balanced arsenal of weapons makes the game very rewarding to put time into.

I call shenanigans on the numbers
H5 doesn’t even crack the top 5 most played games, last I saw it was actually sitting at #11

That’s false. Slightly over two months after the release, Halo 4 had a daily peak population of around 100,000, not a total population. The total active population of Halo 4 this far into its life is impossible to know. However, I’ve estimated that Halo 4, two months into its release, was getting around 350,000±50,000 unique users per 24 hours. The total amount of unique users within a month (the reset time between seasons in Halo 5) is necessarily higher than this. How much? It’s impossible to know without prior data from which estimates could be drawn.

I cannot find the chart.

Here, OP seems to have taken the wrong link.

And this isn’t count the player base that hasn’t ranked at all and play nothing but Tha casual playlist and Warzone, like me. Which there is a high population doing that so far.

(My excuse is that I’m tired of going into ranked and having people quit in my team. I only go in with my friends now

It’s only one playlist, and the creator also posted a caveat in the Reddit discussion that it doesn’t capture every player. This should strictly be considered a lower bound for the amount of active players, and not an indication of how many active players there actually are.

Not to burst anyone’s bubble but the fact that statistical evidence is even required to show that H5 is doing better than H4 did is not a good sign. not a good sign at all.

What other kind of evidence is there?

How does that dispute the numbers? The top five could have a much higher population that halo 4 ever did…

Damn, well thanx for the correction… I read the h4 graphs incorrectly…

still, I’d like to get some numbers from the other playlists to get some better perspective.

Really, we’re bringing this here- its an opinion, it doesn’t have to be correct but for Ne0 and many others it is. Besides you haven’t even played a game of it, not since the beta anyway, so your not even in the position to be able to judge it.

Well… The tactic of releasing the game in pieces seems to be working -_-

That’s a pretty low bar regardless.

Yea like the monitor said kinda felt like bs but still don’t believe it was even around 300,000 felt like way less more like 200-250k but still more than Halo 5 for sure.
