Halo 5 is ruining the franchise

I am here, typing this text and hoping 343 will see this and hear my prayer: Don’t ruin this game anymore!

Let me first introduce myself. I love Halo and I have purchased and played every single game since Combat Evolved. I always found the Halo games excellent and I could play them for months, sometimes even years without playing any other games. Especially Halo 3 and Halo Reach. Why? Because of Custom Games. Yes Custom Games.

Custom Games are what makes Halo unique and it fills the game with endless fun, because every custom game is different.
Halo 5 have the greatest forge I have seen in any Halo game. I’ve tried it out for some days now. The problem is, I don’t want to forge anymore because no one will play the maps. Why? Because there is no Custom game. You cant make funny custom games anymore because there are no game modes left in this game. Its slayer and capture the flag and the new mode, Strongholds. However, the custom games will be exacly like matchmaking and it will make no sense. Where is infection, oddball, King of the hill and the other game modes where you could customize so much and make so many fun games? Gone.
Almost EVERY custom game in Halo 3 and Reach was infection and it was played so much. Why remove the game mode? Why ruin custom game? Forge is useless without proper custom games. I dont wanna play anymore slayer. I dont wanna play anymore Capture the Flag. And I surely dont wanna play anymore Stronholds.
Matchmaking is nice and very well done. But Custom Games are what keeps the Halo games alive. Forge alone cannot save the game. And your game is dying, just like Halo 4. I honestly dont wanna buy the next Halo game for the simple reason that I know it will lack all features I knew in previous Halos. And I know no one the play the games because you end up only being able to play slayer. Its just not good enough. If you cant make proper customization, you will lose players. Many of my friends quit the game after the forge release because they realized there was no use in creating maps when you couldnt play a good custom game on them.

I innerly hope you put infection and all the other good modes into the game. It had so much potential with this forge. But its uselss now. You have ruined this game so far. You remove features every game you make. Im afraid Halo 6 wont even be Halo.

And now when we are at it. You said Halo 4-6 would be a new trilogy with Master Chief and you only play him in 3 / 15 missions in the game. People want Chief, not some “Spartan” Locke.

I hope you see this and actually want to keep your game alive and have a nice community, just like back in Halo 3.

Sincerely, a Halo fan losing interest in the game.

Im quite enjoying Forge in Halo 5 but my main modes are BtB and bigger game battles.

There is no Custom Game lobby in Halo 5?

THERE IS.

He is talking about the game types.

No infection, oddball, etc. There is only Slayer, CTF, and Strong holds.

Oh PHEW! I was worried because the only reason I want Halo 5 is for forge and custom games. Oddball and king of the hill would be hard to recreate, but most of the fun custom games back in Halo 2 were slayers gametypes, including infection/zombies, tower of power, cat and mouse, warthog wars, predator, and elite sniper.

I think there has been enough crying that they will probably implement a lot of these game types in the coming future. Just be patient. Every Halo game starts off with one thing, and ends with a whole different something. Look at Halo 2, 3, 4, Reach. Sure some of them came with a mega-ton of playlist, but neither one had a Warzone and a plethora of weapons and vehicles.

I did enjoy the Infection variants Halo 3 was full of, it was pretty fun.

We just need to be patient. As mentioned above, NOT ONE Halo game was perfect out of the gate. Reach, often viewed as the “best Halo”, was buggy and had a few other issues at start, if I’m not mistaken. Anyway, Halo has not had a flawless climb to the top, and yet everyone is comparing the new game to the ones that have had half a decade of tweaks and improvements.

Well Halo 2 and Halo 3 dominated the gaming market and the population was at it’s highest for those games. These new Halo games do not have that luxury anymore. Being patient means, more and more people stop playing this game/selling it to play other games that actually provide enjoyment to them. This means less people playing Halo 5, which does affect the people who still are playing the game. Warzone should not be an excuse for missing gametypes that have been in Halo since the beginning (e.g. Oddball and KOTH). This Halo is very bare bones compared to all the other Halo’s, which is very disconcerting to many.

What? Did you even go on the forums during the Reach launch? This game was hated more than any other Halo that has been released. Reach is far from being the best Halo.

What this person is talking about and many other before him/her, is the lack of gametypes there are with this game. It has nothing to do with patience. Game modes that have been with the series have now just disappeared with no communication on why and if they are ever coming back. I’m sorry, but 3 gametypes gets very boring and stale after just one month of playing let alone how ever long it takes them to add more to the game.

ok, go play something else then. I love H5

I just don’t see why they remove features every game they make. You have fewer and fewer things to do and fewer and fewer customization options. In my opinion they should add more and more with each game. There is a reason the popoulation length of the games decreases every game they release. It gets boring faster and faster because you have fewer and fewer options. Halo 3 had like a thousand games within the game itself, which is why is was so popular till Reach came out. People never got bored because there was a new game every time they jumped in to custom games.
Now its just slayer, slayer, slayer, with various weapons. It dosent last that long. The only thing that is renewed is the maps. But it dosent change the fact, that slayer get boring when you keep playing it.
If you ever played Halo 3 custom games, you know what I mean when I say every custom game was a new game. If not, you certainly missed the best game ever, looking at custom games.
If they just kept the features instead of removing them, it would just be awesome. I have no idea why they remove all the most played game modes in custom games…
And “being patient” just lose players with each day. You cant wait months realeasing what (in my opinion) should be in the game from the beginning… Waiting for Forge was a pain already. Now without a finished custom game (if they will ever update it), it just torments me. Its not the Halo Custom games I know. As I mentioned, I lost the eager to play this game. My friends did the same. They already quit as I mentioned in the post.

I got into halo while playing split screen custom games at my friends house. Without split screen, that makes no custom games with friends who haven’t tried it, and without custom games, a smaller amount of people get into halo which is bad

Arc Trooper 48 I totally agree with you. They only focus on competetive online gaming, like Call of Duty, and not on the game as a thing you do with your friends to have fun. Create crazy maps and crazy game modes which makes hours of fun with your friends

I’m pretty sure 343 are going to introduce all the classic content in future updates. I know some players are freaked out and confused by the direction the games industry has taken by drip feeding content out to us gamers but thay’s just how it is now. Every month for the next 18 months or so we’ll get great content dumps which will include new maps, gametypes, REQs and all sorts of stuff. Just be patient.

Because that’s the only way they can keep people almost-interested in their bad game.
Halo 2 and 3 didn’t need to worry about having people come back every day for 3 years…because the game was actually good. They didn’t need to release new -Yoink-.

The damage Halo 5 is dealing to Halo’s gameplay may be irreparable.

That’s rubbish. Previous Halo games have structured the content release into one big release as that’s how the industry was geared and it was costing developers millions to develop a game and flops would be hugely damaging to the developer and publisher. The we saw the rise of mobile gaming that used the freemuim model to keep gamers interested and make huge profits. Console developers and publishers are now experimenting with similar models. It’s nothing to do with the quality of the game.

Reach, ODST and Halo 5 are by far my fav Halo games.

Not even going to try to fight this battle. Have fun not having fun OP.

Halo 5 is a great game and is not or anytime soon, “Ruining the Franchise”. Halo 5 is still growing and more stuff is being worked on. Forge was just released and I am already hearing people complain about it. And if the community tell 343 “Hey, we kinda need some of our old game modes we like to play”, I am pretty sure they will respond in some way. Every game company does that with their community. Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and Treyarch, Destiny and Bungie, GTA 5 and Rockstar, etc. But people don’t explain anything and than get mad at the game for being repetitive.

When I hear people say the game is boring, I ask this question almost every time, “Do you have people to play with?” Every time that say no. And I say that they have to play with people in order to have fun. You can’t play a multiplayer game with no friends and expect to be occupied the entire time. This makes people be social and call up friends and ask if they want to play. Then I see people playing the game all the time. Like my friend with Destiny, he got it for PS4 and I kept telling him to get it for Xbox One because:
A. He has friends on the One
B. He has no one to play with on the PS4

Needless to say he hated it and than got it for the one with the release of the Taken King and now he plays it a lot along with several other games he has plays with me and our friends. People need to explain. If they don’t, how will people ever no how to change or fix something.
