You all are supporting this game like it’s amazing with so many bugs, adjustments yet to be made. Joking about how you wish the AR would receive an upgrade. Not only is this hazardous to the community but we shouldn’t be fighting eachother.
This game is in a serious state, and probably going to be worse than Halo 4 if it doesn’t get fixed.
-The blast radius on grenades is ridiculous. Halo reach ridiculous.- -The Prophets bane has a lunge distance near the melee distance. It’s so short. If anyone wants to avoid being killed by prophets all you need to do is thrust away and shoot and you’ll always win. This weapon is awful if you’re facing people who know how to counter it. Power weapons shouldn’t be useless.- -Make the sniper shoot near the rate of Halo 2. It shoots once every 2 seconds, this doesn’t fit the gameplay speed at all. It’s way too slow.- -Make the pistol have a lower rate of fire. You can spam it up close for seriously fast kill times.- -Remove flinch entirely. Whoever implemented this horrid feature should be fired immediately. I thought we learned not to add this already through Halo 4.- -AR damage and SMG damage needs a 25% reduction and remove the smart scope for the Assault Rifle. It needs to remain a short range weapon, giving it a scope adds about 20+ meters to its range, making it a mid range weapon which is absurd. SMG would be fine with a scope assuming it would have to be picked up and there’s no gametypes with SMG start (such as Team Duals)- -Ground pound honestly just needs to be completely removed. This is really a useless feature to begin with, it’s barely used and rarely helpful. Never should you spawn with a 1 hit kill ability either. It doesn’t fit this game plain and simple. Ground pound often gets in the way of trying to Ghandi hop also and gets me stuck while doing so, offering up a warm body as a free kill sometimes.- -Let us back out of searching lobbies- -Give us the option to vote for what map we want to play. I thought you’d be more intelligent and realize pregame lobbies are still desired by the players.- -Let us see post game carnage in detail, with break down, rival, medals we earned, etc. It’s too simplistic.- -Let us see post game carnage while we wait for a match to be searched for. Nothing else to do during that time.- -The ranking system is completely stupid. If I get a 4.0 KDR and my team loses I’m penalized because the competitive ranking system judges me based on how many wins I get versus how well I do as a player. If I play solo I’ll literally never have a chance at getting a higher rank than Onyx because I’ll lose 40% of the time because of anchor team mates. This rank system doesn’t reflect how you do as a player, it reflects how well you can pubstomp with your friends or how well you can get -Yoinked!- over by poor team mates.- -You didn’t even make new armor or models. You just used Halo 4’s armor. That’s gotta be the laziest thing I’ve ever seen. No innovation. Copy/pasting armor, have you no shame 343.- -Don’t know why I have to press X to see the roster. There’s nothing on the right side of the screen to begin with I don’t know why it’s not just permanently embedded on the right side like Halo: Reach had, probably the best user interface out of all the Halos.- -There’s no system which prevents me, a solo player, from being paired against a team of players.- -I’ve been paired up against a team of 2 pros and 2 semi pros, I’m Gold III. We lost by 2 kills, I pulled a 5.0 KDR and my team went mad negative. My skill rank dropped. Does this not exemplify how the rank system is broken?- -Make weapon switching so much faster. At least twice as fast. I find myself with Prophets bain being nearly useless because when I need to use it I switch to it but can’t use it for a good 2 seconds until it’s completely withdrawn. It’s supposed to be a weapon you switch to, so why is it so bad at being switched to? Surely 343 doesn’t expect me to always have this weapon equipped ready to swing with it. This slow weapon switch also ruins my habit of Y-Y’ing the sniper scope instead of zooming out because it takes too long for the sniper to return.- -Display my SR rank somewhere. No one actually knows I’m SR-10 (including myself) unless I actually go to my service record. It seems you stress competitive skill rank far too much, which you shouldn’t do. (especially because competitive skill rank is totally a broken concept)- -Thruster pack needs a longer cooldown by at least 3 more seconds. So there. How about we all just give feedback like a good community, stop hating and mocking eachother and tell our opinions? So many of you wipes are saying how it’s so good, trying to focus on the positives. The purists need a say in this game and need to be listened to at least a little bit. The community is turning on eachother by mocking eachother and being negative toward their feedback. That’s undeserved. This game will end up like Halo 4 if we neglect honest feedback, ignore all purist opinions and keep the game terrible the way it is.
A purist is someone who wishes to keep the game to its roots, and doesn’t like to see change happen. That’s the radical definition of a purist though for Halo, I don’t mind change but I really don’t like to see poor change, and that’s what this game is implementing. Poor, unconsidered change. For the sake of change. They try too hard to make the game new, when all they have to do to make it new is maybe add new game modes like Infection with a twist, or add a Firefight where you can build defences, etc. Changing the competitive aspect of Halo, the aspect which Halo is best known for, is a good decision only if the change is welcomed. As you can clearly see by the community it is not welcome by many of us, and we’re concerned. Don’t ignore us.
Not going to reply about all those things, But with the weapons pretty much you want every weapon to lose against a BR huh?
Grenades, yes I’ll agree with that, lower blast, but higher damage would be better.
The Prophets bane, with the thruster pack if you are skilled then someone running/thrusting away won’t be much of a bother. While I hope that the classic sword is in the game, the bane is a new weapon with it’s own rules.
Weapon switching/flinching, yes those things need some tuning. But the added effect of flinching should stay. Maybe not how it is now, but tuned a bit and it’ll have it’s place.
As for the armor things, halo has always had some armor carry over from each games. Look into the detail of the armor in game so far, it’s not copy paste. Just the same sort of armor.
Everything else you stated is invalid due to this being a beta almost a year before the games release.

Do you think assassinations should be removed as well, because they too are a one-hit-kill ability?
“If you all don’t listen to the purists at least a little bit or rather, people who know what they’re actually talking about, then this game will be worse than Halo 4.”
First of all, what is considered a purist? I’m new here, but see that word being thrown around a lot.
Secondly, you’re basically saying that non-purists don’t have a valid opinion? If people like the game, I don’t see anything wrong with that.
We’re still a year away from release - I am expecting that the pre-game lobbies will be added sometime in the future, same with the armor etc. You can’t even view medals at the moment which doesn’t make much sense, so I assume it simply hasn’t been finished yet.
I agree about the AR/SMG - it feels overpowered at the moment. Same for weapon-switching, there’s almost no point switching weapons in the middle of a fight anymore.
I like the new abilities though - even the ground stomp. I don’t use it much at all, but it has come in handy a couple of times. Wouldn’t miss it if it was dropped though.
Just to add a couple of things I don’t like:
The power weapon indicators and countdown.
The ranking system - I don’t know if it’s just me, but Halo used to be about having fun, casual matches with friends - it feels too serious/competitive now (or at least focuses on it too much). And it doesn’t make sense at all - I’m starting to play a lot better than I was yesterday, but I’m getting performance penalties?
Coming from an old fart and now what is termed a “purist”, Halo 5 is looking to be absolute trash. Kill times are so low that it feels like the game is set to no shields. If they were to lengthen the kill time, I believe that will fix all the problems when it comes to weapon balance. If not, then they could go from there. They just need to make us a little stronger. Ground pound is a gimmick, thruster pack requires no skill to use and if it is, then you can’t deny it isn’t more of a crutch than it is ability. Sprint is fine, Halo needs this to keep up with the times. Sliding is fine, good addition. Clamber is also good. Just fix the kill times, remove flinch, ground pound, and thruster pack, and you have yourself a damn good game.
Yea we they sure learned to keep flinch out since it wasn’t in halo 4. Considering that game lasted 2 weeks lol. The sword is op if you can use it right. I agree with the matchmaking, but the division ranks arent working since its a BETA. And no one cares about your sr rank? No ones gonna look at it and sat “wow that guys a sr (whatever)”. Nobody cares, all the sr shows is how much you’ve played. You can click on someones profile and literally see their hours played.

You don’t seem to be describing “absolute trash”, but hell your suggestions are good. (Although, Thruster Pack doesn’t warrant being removed. Just a nerf.)
After having played the game for about two hours, I feel I have played enough to give feedback.
I have, in the past, felt like sprint breaks the Halo multiplayer experience. That feeling has not changed. I do think that halo should be modernized, however, I do not think it should be with sprint or thruster packs.
I love how creative the development team is with some of their ideas, it just happens that I don’t like how those ideas fit into the world of halo. (sprint and thruster abilities)
I am a long time fan of the Halo Universe. I have been a fan since Halo: CE. My knowledge of the Halo Universe will end with the ending of Halo 4 based on what I have experienced from the gameplay of the Halo 5 Beta.
I will say that the game is beautiful and will look even better with a finished and polished game. Due to gameplay I do not see me purchasing this game.
Remember, this is a Beta, which has been released a full year ahead of the actual game. They’re going to make changes. I agree with everything you said and wish to add that I have a major problem with the reduced kill times–but I’ve posted my thoughts on that in my own threads, no need to repeat myself here.
The only thing I just might disagree with is the Ground pound. It might be useless presently, but it’s a really neat concept which makes use of the fact that Spartans wear a 1,000 pound suit of armour. I sort of like it.

That’s a different story because to earn such a thing your opponent has to be completely negligent, as to not even look at the radar.
The Ground Pound I’ve seen save people in really really bad situations where their back is up against the wall blinking almost dead and pull that outta their -Yoink- to save themselves. It’s a gamble but it sometimes works as a last resort and shouldn’t, not should it be here entirely. It really doesn’t fit the game.
