Halo 5 is pretty skillful

While trying my hardest, I could achieve a 2.0 in Halo 5 most matches. The game’s aim assist is very low, and there just seems to be a learning curve. After the beta ended I sadly booted up MCC, and proceeded to go 18-0 (H4), 26-16 (H2 in a 2v4 when I was on the team with 2 on warlock) 32-4 (H3). Safe to say H5 for me is the most difficult Halo to master. Gonna miss it.

the learning curve for me took a while. can’t wait to get my hands on halo 5 again

It’s not a “learning curve”, it’s fast kill times. The only reason you were only able to get a 2.0 in Halo 5 is because they made it so that a spray of AR is a death sentence, especially when aiming at the head. Engagements are won via who shoots first, and map control has been utterly lost. I really can’t believe people are defending this beta, and calling it Halo when it is anything but. Certainly, without fail, this will be the first Halo game I won’t be preordering, and possibly the first I will completely skip… Unless there are concessions made, and the game goes through a rebalancing/gutting of useless gimmicks suck as slide, slam, clamber, hover, and whatever else they think is hearkening back to “classic Halo”. To think 343i, my favorite developers, have thought it wise to follow the fad of extra abilities that so many games deem fit.

idk… I though I picked this one up quick. I actually play it a lot like COD. Nice and slow. Let people sprint to me. It almost always gives me first shot.

Mmm… H5 beta was ranked. H2 H3 H4 dont have rank in MCC.

This is most certainly not true. I’ve gotten too many reversal medals to know this isn’t the case, and seen pro-players get them all the time. Now Halo 2, that’s a game that boiled down to shooting first, with it’s crazy aim assist mechanics, but Halo 5 battles can be turned around if you know what you’re doing and don’t act overzealous.

And I’ve never known a game to rely more on map control; running around like an idiot will get you slaughtered.

With that said, Halo 5 still needs work. Magnetism is still too high and auto-weapon headshot bonuses need to go as an example, but by no means is this the final product. The whole point of this experience was to test the features and provide feedback on what needs fixing; skipping this game based on a beta defeats the purpose of the beta.

halo 5 is probably the most easiest Halo game I ever played.

Orrrr nahhhh. Honestly the “classic” trilogy is done, over, we finished the fight! This is a new trilogy good or bad. I don’t want halo to be the best classic halo I already have that in halo 3. I’m completely over having to master ONE gun. I’ve mastered the trinity. I was halo 5 to be the best halo they have in mind. If their comes with sprint than so be it. It’s not about defending the beta it’s knowing that this not BUNGIE and its not classic halo.

As for skill? I feel like this could be the game that required the most in the serious. We scrapped the randomness of ordinance. Added a layer to mobility with thrust and yes clamber. Clambering around a map when needed it to cut off feels rewarding AF. Remapping ground and pound will give me back ghandi jumps on top of that, so I only clamber when needed!

are the kill times perfect? No they are not, but I still get my reversal medals, I still get my double and my tripple kills the same way I did in every halo. Bounce a grenade off the wall or floor and pop headshots.

i can’t use my beloved BR at all ranges and I’m surprisinglyy okay with that. If an AR beats you at distance don’t blame spray and pray you simply lost. We are so used to useless autos that a good one is OP right off the bat. The SMG is what the suppressor should have been. The light rifle is no longer a weaker DMR it not holds its own. 343 is spreading the wealth like bungie has never done in the weapon department.

Am I gonna miss as classic halo? Yes absolutely. Would I enjoy a classic playlist or two sure. But I have MCC for my classic fix

Oh great, tell me to go to MCC, a game that doesn’t work. I stopped playing that after I lost my 20 for the third time in a row. Classic Halo is what Halo is KNOWN for. Slow, methodical, good placement, callouts, weapon timing, and useless tier 1 weapons that you were forced to drop for better guns. The BR was made to counter the sniper, and power weapons so you could gain control. Just ask Jaime Griesemer, the man who balanced Halo CE-3, he knew what flow in a shooter was, and it’s that mentality that made the past games great! It was simplicity through balance, and understanding what roles were required. There’s now a lack of simplicity, and the triangle goal of Halo has now been vehemently slammed with useless gimmicks that take away from the original goal. What’s the point of clamber? All clamber does is removes the skill gap provided by trick jumps, a fundamental unstated mechanic that has been around since CE. There’s no reason to throw that away. What about slide? I’ve used it, and all it really does is make it so you can close the gap faster, which leads to frantic melee fights that used to take good plays to get into, now I can just slide right up to you with my shotgun and obliterate you like never before. Hover? WORTHLESS. Its primary function is to get rid of Ghandi hopping, and popping scopes. Honestly, too many cooks ruin the stew, and that’s what’s happening with Halo. Too much of this, and that, and too little of what made it good. Simplicity.

I have been requested by someone, via PM, to post their opinion on the matter at hand, thus being the skill gap of Halo. Following is their opinion:
The reason Halo 5 feels harder is because the skill gap is so low. Let me illustrate that with a game of pong.
This is Halo 5:
http://i.imgur.com/JH1f95q.png* It is extremely hard to score against someone in this game of pong unless the ball is moving at a super fast speed, but in this case it is not and is moving at a reasonable speed.

  • This game of Pong also features a very small skill gap. In this game everyone is placed at the same point in the learning curve and no matter how good you are, it is always going to be hard to beat someone.
    This is Halo 1-3.
http://i.imgur.com/YV4wmsl.png* In this game it is a lot “easier” to score against someone, but this game also has an incredibly high skill gap. People are spread across learning curve. If you are just a little bit better than someone, that will make a huge difference.
  • A beginner will never be able to compare against someone who has practiced this game of pong for a few years.

Again no one is disagreeing with you on how beautifully simple were the original 3. Lol you only needed ONE gun and powerweapons. Bungie introduced equipment and the pushed it further and introduced the abilities. Because if they knew that the trinity needed new layers. No one is changing your old halo. This is a different halo with a different team it’s normal that you don’t like it. But asking it to go back to hold halo isn’t gonna happen. Bungie themselves could not come back and give us halo 2.5. I have my hover set to manual just because I love my hoping headshots but when I see it needs I use it and do some cool stuff with it, dodge a grenade, survive a rocket ITS FUN. I’m not gonna lie I never use slide in sure someone somewhere is enjoying it. Sliding and getting popped by a shotgun, Dammn that would def cheese me tbh, don’t see it happening often but you’re right it’s a possibility. I’ll have to see if thrust away from the guy clearly sprinting towards you helps. I have no problem dodging prophets bane when I’m not caught off guard
