Is there anything to suggest this guy is credible? Has he leaked any information that was later proven to be true?
Late night is mostly true, been subbed for a while now

If you don’t believe it then don’t. Late Night is just a halo fan like you and me and was severely dissapointed with halo 5’s campaign like the majority of us. What would you do in his situation?

So just believe it cause this dude says to? A game centered on Locke alone would have brought even more hate cause then it would’ve been way less of the chief than we got in h5. As for the story who knows if it wouldve been better than h5?

Way less then halo 5? Did you read that correctly my friend? We WERE going to get an even split between the two.

So he has yet to prove his credibility then? Not sure why anyone would believe anything he says then. Sounds like confirmation bias.
Sounds just like that so called leak from a year or two ago. Microsoft watered down Halo 4s ending so this wouldn’t surprise me if it were true.
But yeah some form of proof would be nice.

IT ALL MAKES SENSE!!! Also if you read everything you should’ve known it’s a leak. Late night always talks to 343i members and this came from an ex 343i employee. If you don’t believe it then that fine, but if you are as hurt by halo 5 like late night and you were given all of this information, what would you do?

You say he always talks to 343 members, where’s the proof? He has yet to prove his credibility at all. If this were Kotaku, that would be one thing since they’ve continually proven their own credibility and that of their sources with this kind of stuff, but this guy hasn’t, at all.

Interesting… if it’s true. Not surprising though.
I’m not buying what some random person said on Facebook with, even if it’s entirely believable. I have no doubt 343i had a different plan for the story originally, they always said “Halo 5 is big and it was supposed to be much bigger”. The story was definitely streamlined significantly at some point, and that made the story’s execution crappy and mismatched, also causing the Locke-Chief uneven split (I’m positive it wasn’t meant to look like this originally). I’m also sure there was meant to be a Hunt the Truth element through Locke, which they ended up cutting.
But honestly, even with all that done properly, Cortana coming back would have sucked one way or the other. I’m not ready to believe 343i changed that in the last minute, sorry. That’s a frankly terrible stiry decision that must have been planned ages ago (343i at least try to convince us that they have a plan for the Forerunner Saga, and this change would be too massive). And even if this whole supposed leak is true, I honestly would have hated Halsey taking Cortana’s place just as much as I do the current storyline.
This whole arc seems like filler to pad out the Halo universe, no other way to look at it. The whole arc feels forced and annoying, teeming with a cast of pointless and uninteresting new characters and a storyline that avoids everything that was being built up to date.
Maybe with better execution I would have liked it more, you never know. In the end, all I can do is critique the current product and hope that the person responsible takes it to heart (they know full well who they are- whether Microsoft or 343i, Reed or O’Connor) and learns from their mistakes. Dealing with all these hypotheticals (uncomfirmed ones, at that) is just a giant waste of time.
And here’s my critique: the story as shipped was bad, and the execution was even worse.
Sounds like it would play like Halo 3 ODST, believable but it doesn’t matter just like Destiny’s original story, what is done is done, and there is nothing that can change that.
