Ive been trying to get my friends back into H5. They used to have a lot of fun with it, but now they have lost interest. Which blows because i still like playing this game
But i understand their qualms with Halo 5.
For a while this game had the Warzone Armory bug which was annoying and couldnt be hotfixed. One person i know in particular was mad that they waited a month.
The FFA glitch where high ranked players couldnt find matches so they had to make smurfs to play, which drove away low skilled players.
Spartan Lasers, which couldnt even kill a mongoose, were ignored for months
The map settings in Arena were decent in the beginning but quickly became trash, because of poor map quality, over abundance of power weapons and storm rifles AND SPLINTERS.
The silence is what made it the worst of all. Bravo was basically scarred from the MCC days, so he played every response safe. But the community needed something drastic. Something far from safe.
I understand assault, infection, and firefight took a while to finish. BUT THE FACT THAT DOUBLES AND TEAM SNIPES WERE BANISHED TO ROTATIONAL PLAYLISTS IS BULL -YOINK-
But now things are different . 343 had fundamentally changed in the past couple of months you see. Josh Holmes had left the studio, Bravo was promoted, and Ske7ch was brought in. This is the turning point. No more playing it safe. 343 put all its cards on the table. Ske7ch’s first act as community manager was answering questions. Bravo and the HCS team rans some fantastic LANs. The Forge team stayed the same. And we have finally gotten our Ranked Special split. Better Arena map settings have been put in place. And Im gonna take a stance on this, Warzone has finally been fun to solo que again after a long time. Its how it should have been at LAU… No. Forge really benefitted from the extra time, the Custom Browser is amazing, and stuff like the Wasp and WZFF were completely fan originated material.
Back to the point, all of these goodies have been added, but alot of people wont come back for 2 reasons.
-1. People are sour for all the missing standard features that were gone for a long time after launch. They moved on because they were tired of waiting on Halo. Now these features are coming back, but the only thought on their mind is “why wasnt this here earlier” instead of having fun with the newly added goodies.
2. This game is over 100 gigabytes. “Oh they added a new thing lets reinstall Halo 5. Oh wait its 1/5th of my hard drive.” 343 I love the sound design in this game, but we know through data found on H5Forge that a good chunk of Halo 5’s size is foreign sounds. And thats kind of nuts.
The overwhelming size of this game, plus the slow speed of adding features in the past have driven people away from Halo 5, despite all the cool stuff it brought to the table very recently. This is someones fault at 343 and Microsoft. But i honestly think this studio has changed for the better. And the continued support for this game will always be appreciated. Even though past players have ignored it. The only thing i can say is to keep trying with Halo 5, learn from this game, and build Halo 6 to the best of your ability.
