Halo 5 is wicked, its got the most solid movement mechanics I’ve ever experienced in an FPS, and the shooting and nade throwing/bouncing mechanics give me tears of joy sometimes. Ground Pound is (IMO) the best mechanic to be added to Halo since Vehicle Boarding was introduced, and I love hover as a situational tool (I have it set to Manuel as scoping while bunny hopping also has its advantages). Clamber really smoothens up the movement while the level design also allows crouch jumps so those that try extra hard can make those skill jumps without entering an animation. And lets all take a moment to praise the amazing new vehicle seat swapping mechanic that hasn’t gotten the love it deserves.
Despite all this, the game definitely has its flaws. The graphics are amazing, but you can tell the game is biting off more than it can chew with the all-to-often texture/shading pop in on the big maps in BTB and Warzone. The 30fps animations on character models at long distances also diminishes the great looks of this game more than I like to admit. I can live with this stuff, but cant express how much I hope its hammered out by the next title. Here is a short wish list of additions id also like to see in Halo 6.
•Black Undersuits (at least as an option)
•Infection (at launch)
•Boarding/assassinating a Hunter (come on, who doesn’t want this??)
•UNSC air vehicle (at launch)
•More Forerunner vehicles such as tanks and light ground vehicles to accompany the Phaeton
•Gravity Hammer (at launch) and a badarse red energy sword variation (like the one from H2A, the req system should have it already if you ask me)
Sorry for the story, just want to express that I really am positive about Halo 5 and have enjoyed it more so than any game of the last couple years, but that it could still be a lot better. There’s always room for improvement.
