Halo 5 is garbage, and here's why.

Okay, so I’ve played about 100 games of Halo 5’s “ultimate competitive” multiplayer. This game was a huge upset to me and my friends because when the makers of the game were asked, “so what have you done to make this game different?”, they responded with: “well we really listened to the people, and spent a lot of time making this a competitive multiplayer”. I thought, wow! They’re really gonna make Halo a great game again!

First off, what makes Halo 5 competitive? The rank that you “earn” is based off of winning games. It has nothing to do with you K/D ratio, which is what REALLY shows people your individual skill, that and a few other things, like assists, time alive, wins/losses, and much more. Also, your “rank” is not displayed like in the Halo 2 or Halo 3 days. So who really knows if you’re good or not, why would I waste my time to check individual service records of other players to see their “rank”. You could very well just get carried by “good” players and just get your “rank” that way. So the ranking system in Halo 5 is horrendous in comparison to Halo 2 and Halo 3, in regards to being competitive. I would like to know who and what I am playing against, and this way, if someone is higher than me it will make it a CHALLENGE to win.

Every gun is overpowering to the highest power. I find myself getting destroyed by a pistol 90% of the time I play. It is a pistol for heavens sakes, why on earth would you make a pistol equivalent to a Battle Rifle?! In no way, shape, or form does that make any sense. It is so easy to kill people in this game, that I find that majority of the time, it really just comes down to whoever sees who first. Is that skill? Not at all, in fact it reminds me of Call of Duty. The rail gun is a joke, the needler is a joke, the pistol needs to be removed from the game, or toned down so much it’s ridiculous. I have been on both ends of killing and being killed by an Assault Rifle half way acrossed the map. Even if I kill them, I feel that it is a joke of some sort. This game needs all of it’s weapons toned the hell down, it requires no skill to run around pick people off in 2 seconds.

The invisibility power up, in all other Halos, it was an ADVANTAGE, not a full on invisibility. You literally cannot see them, and like I said before, the game comes down to who sees who first, so I can run around with invis, and guarantee myself a killing spree. It’s so lame it’s beyond comprehension for me. You need to update the power ups and make it an ADVANTAGE, not a full on free killing spree, this mainly applied to the invis.

The openness of every single damn map. Every map is way too open, I am being shot acrossed the map by pistols when I am in a 1v1 with someone. What fun is it to never have a 1v1? You need to have closed parts of every map where a power weapon is, like Green Box on The Pit in Halo 3. In MLG, Rockets were there, you tossed nades, you pushed, or flanked. There was no openness to just get melted by a pistol by everyone. It required skill and strategy to get a power weapon, this game requires no strategy to get anything. Close up some portions of the maps.

Radar, I don’t think I need to say much, it is a horrendous piece of crap in this game. I really don’t need to use it, but it would help a lot in this game being that every gun is OP as hell. If you don’t care to fix it, please just add an MLG playlist without it, for everyone. It doesn’t read other players until they’re 3 feet behind you, or next to you.

The grenades, way to fast to throw. I find myself fighting and killing kids and their last ditch effort is to throw a nade down right before they die, and if you aren’t 100% health, you’re dead. I mean c’mon, can’t you let anyone win in this game… Or will that hurt kids feelings and cause them to contemplate suicide. And then, who did these soldiers pay for, the Yankees?!? I can throw a grenade across a map for Christ’s sakes. Please limit the range In which nades can be thrown!!

Please 343, give this game a major upgrade. This game is appealing not to players who loved the Halo franchise, but to kids who will buy, buy, buy for now, and go onto another game in 2 months. Make this game hard, like Halo 2 and Halo 3. Why do you think they were so successful?? This game is very smooth, it has great graphics, but it’s gameplay is horrible. You need to make this game hard, and worth it to invest time into it. I played Halo 2 for a year and half, my highest rank was a 34! Played Halo 3 for 4 years, at first, I was not that good, at the end of 4 years, I had 50’s in Team Slayer, MLG, Doubles, and Snipes. This game requires no skill, it is totally made for the kids who need reassurance that they’re good at games, when really, it is the failure of the game’s makers who just didn’t want to make the game COMPETITIVE. Who do you want buying and playing your games? Kids who jump from release to release, or kids who will play your game everyday, trying to get better, and get a higher rank.

Sincerely,
A Halo fan

Okay first off I agree with your bit about the radar, the grenades being over used, and some power weapons being a joke. You should have added the Hydra to that category.

However I strongly disagree with everything else you said.
-The AR is a horrible weapon

-CSR (competitive skill rank) isn’t the best but it does prevent major noob killing.
I was put in “Silver” for slayer (because of 2 matches I messed around on) my first match as a silver I got a rampage…(20+ kills without dying)

  • The invisibility is very useful now. Before it was too easy to spot and/or you wouldn’t be invisible when you moved. Now it’s amazing. Ok sure it’s OP but how often do you see it used on those maps it’s on? 1 maybe 2 times? Who cares.

-This game isn’t perfect but it’s not a horrendous monster like you make it out to be.

If every single gun is overpowered, than basically all the guns are balanced.

Its a team game. You work as a team to win. If your team loses you go down in rank. Whats so hard to understand?

so far the only issues with the multiplayer is the lack of wacky playlists, map rosters being limited for different game modes and swat spawning.

That’s just like, your opinion, man.

This is all I needed to read to realize this needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Tom Brady doesnt win the Super Bowl if he loses - even if he throws 10 TDs in a game. It doesnt matter how good you are if you arent able to win the big games. No one cares about how many kills and deaths you have if you win in the end.

This guy gets it. I know exactly how you feel

no. it just becomes a game of which team works more effectively regardless of any real individual skill.

I’m loving Halo 5. The multiplayer is on track to be as good as H2. Thank you, 343.

Can’t wait to keep fighting for Champion in FFA.

Teamwork > Lone Wolf

It´s a balanced game, in Warzone meh, but in Arena the matches are almost balanced and everybody has got the same chances to win / turn the game when they work together.

When you want to play like that, play the campaign.

A combination of a radar, overpowered starting weapons (pistol in particular), small maps, fast and easy movement make this game the worse team working game ever as it destroys any individuality. Games should not be 100% affected by who has the sweatiest team. There needs to be room for individual skill. The chance to take on an enemy or 2 and not be destoyed by surrounding teammates like in halo 3. This is the thing halo 4 and now 5 misses. With all the new additions, this game cant afford an OP pistol as a starting weapon, as it seriously hurts the games balance.

"Teamwork > Lone Wolf " There needs to be a middle ground just like halo 3 had.

You forgot to add “I think” to the beginning of your title.

Didn’t have time to read whole OP, but saw part about K/D not mattering.

I would argue that KDA IS taken into account when ranking, me and one of my friends played all 10 qualifying matches in Team Arena together, and after the 10th game his KDA was 6.2 and mine was 5.9 and he was put into Diamond 1 and me Platinum 1. Overall we are almost equally skilled players, so not it is obviously not win/loss because we played all 10 games on the same team.

I feel like you’re the one posting all of the hate threads

do people even read threads, do they just see the title and make mindless comments?

Lol this gave me a good laugh, so true hahaha

Your wrong about kd. The 10 placement matches put you in a league with players at your skill level. So your kd after that will relatively be even or around 1.3 or 1.4 ish… The games are really close. Especially in onyx and champion. Im a #20 champ in swat and have a 1.3kd… My kd in mcc is a 1.8 because theres no true skill or placement ranking.
