I have to say it in one sentence: Halo 5 is pretty damn fun. Everything is balanced, it takes skill, and nothing is truly overpowered. There were two maps, Truth and Empire. Both are extremely great maps, with a nice selection of weapons. I am actually surprised at how good it is.
Gameplay:
Truth is a great remake of Midship. The size barely matters, you have interesting sight lines, and the fighting kind of goes in circle around the outside, with people cutting through the middle every once in a while. The weapons on the map are great for the map, with 4 BR’s, 4 DMR’s, a few SMG’s, and lots of grenades. The map is also really beautiful in design, with even basic hidden areas detailed to full extent. I feel like Truth will be a very popular map when the full version of Halo 5 comes out.- Empire is another symmetrical map. It has several DMR’s and BR’s, along with its selection of SMG’s and other weapons. The power weapons on this map are two Snipers. Contrary of belief, the ordnance markings cause great gameplay in that area of the map. When the power weapons are marked, you can choose to go to the outside or inside sniper. It’s real fun to camp outside the Sniper spawns and wait for enemies, as an encounter is common. The two Snipers are the best choice for weapon on the map- it just feels like a Sniper map. The map is also really great in detail. The only problem I had is that the Blue team base was lighted too blue, so it was hard to see the Blue team members compared to Red team.- Both maps seems perfectly designed for the new Spartan Abilities, like clambering.- I feel like Empire will be the new Haven.Sounds:
The sounds in the game are great. The weapons sound powerful, the Spartans make realistic callouts that are a balance to ambiance and information. The noises of thrusting, jumping, grunting, and pounding (that’s ground pounding, by the way ) are not obnoxious. The only problem is the beeping, which in this version is played after every shot. This has been fixed in later versions, most likely in the real Beta on the 29th.Ranking:
The ranking is the best out of all Halo and other FPS games. You play 10 games, and then it puts you in a league based on rankings. Each league has 3 ranks, 1 2 and 3. At the end of a game, you can see your meter rise or lower depending on win/loss. It is so easy and simple to understand the ranking. There are 5 different leagues: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Diamond.UI:
Clean, easy to use, simple. You can easily get around to controller settings, armor customization, matchmaking. Nothing else to say other than that is looks amazing. If you want questions answered, just comment below.
I agree with your comment that the Blue team base in Empire does seem a bit “too” blue, making it a little more difficult to see compared to the red team.
I just got done playing the beta for a few hours and i fully agree with your post. I think 343 is on the right track to making a great Halo game. I can’t wait to play the full beta on the 29th. The game is just amazing well done 343I.

Yes. I’m still playing it. I have a total time-played of 2 hours and 43 minutes. And I’m still playing right now.
im loving it so far, to me it feels like its going to take title of being the greatest Halo with some fine tuning etc.
Really hoping the full beta has CTF

I don’t think so, but CTF was shown in The Sprint. So I guess that is confirmed.

It works like this:
Week 1 (+ Pre-release) has Truth and Empire with the Slayer gamemode.
Week 2 is getting maybe 2 or 3 new maps with possible Breakout mode.
Week 3 is getting the rest of the maps and whatever else is left.
Week 1 is focusing on Truth and Empire playing Team Slayer with assault rifle starts. Maybe in Week 2 we will get BR starts as a test?
It makes me really want to keep playing and rank up. In Halo 2 Anniversary, I feel stressed and mad if I lose. This game makes a loss look like a minor setback.
I agree except in the case of the UI, it’s painfully bland and there are not enough options for things like bringing up the post game report while searching for another game. This will likely all be fixed by release, however.
I honestly don’t know how you can think that. I’m being serious. All I’ve gotten out of it so far is that the AR is way to good, and overall kill times are too fast. It can still be saved, as it’s still only the beta, but if the game launches like this it will be the first Halo game that I sell after beating the campaign.
I’m happy that people like it, I really am. It just seems like they took all skill out of Halo and added fast paced automatic weapon spam in its place, and I don’t like that at all. I stopped playing after I got my ranking (gold 3 if you were wondering) because I was tired of being killed at medium/long range with an AR, even though I had a BR and should have won that.
