I love Halo 5 and I’m going to explain why because I’m sick of all the negative posts. If you like halo 2, 3 or 4 you are welcome to play them at any time. Now heres what I think…
Halo 5 brings back balance to a game that was missing it for some time. All the weapons are useful and balanced (with the exception of the hydra launcher which I think could be fixed with a small tweak of making it slightly stronger) giving you the chance to kill anyone regardless of the weapon they are carrying. The maps are throwbacks to the balanced maps of old. There are useful call outs and and thoughtfully placed power weapons with timers which takes away the advantage of spawn counting. The new ranking system is a great re-imagination of the 1-50 with the bronze through diamond leagues being the 1-30 with the onyx and championship leagues being the elite 30-50 with a little bonus of seeing your raw CSR score. This gives players something to keep playing and fighting for. I personally can’t wait to get to onyx so regardless if I ever make it I will continue to try giving me something to come back for and play the game. Sure perhaps there needs to be some tweaks made to placement and matching or whatever but Halo is a team game and that should be what your rank should be based on. If you wan’t an individual ranking play Rumble Pit! However, what I love the most about Halo 5 is the gameplay. Not only the gameplay but just how smooth and intuitive it becomes after playing it for a few days. The shot registration is amazing! Head shots are head shots and body shots are body shots! The new mobility features are awesome and I don’t care what anyone says. Sure it makes it faster but don’t say its like COD, thats just ridiculous nonsense your blathering. You can’t win a 1 vs 3 battle in COD but in Halo 5 you can. That has what has always separated halo from other FPS games. You can win battles through movement, shot accuracy, and clever grenade placement even when one or two players get the jump on you (hence the great addition of the reversal medal). That’s rarely possible in other FPS like COD. It’s extremely fun being able to run, jet and jump and reverse a kill on someone. There is skill in that! This feels more like Halo then it has in a long time with a fresh approach. I love the evolution 343 keep it coming… oh yeah and the campaign kicks -Yoink- don’t listen to the haters! Thank you so much for staying committed to the multplayer so excited for the free content. BTB next week! woop woop
Here are some minor suggestions:
We need one or two social playlists for warm up - Warzone just doesn’t give you the right warm up necessary for a competitive arena match
Show medals in post game carnage report - Why wouldn’t you?
The in-game friend list should show what your friend is currently playing (i.e. arena - slayer, like the xbox dashboard does)
Bring back competitive scoring in the campaign!
Then there are some minor glitches like not being able to hear fire team in lobby but im sure you guys are working on that stuff…
Only time you’ll win a 1v3 scenario in Halo 5 is in a match of Breakout or SWAT. Halo 5’s longer kill times encourage teamwork, not individual prowess. You’re much more likely to win a 1v3 in CoD than Halo due to its near-instant kill times.
Honestly think Halo 5 is doing a great job so far, yes there is a lack of playlists, but they’ll be added in time. Reach didn’t get all of its abundant amount of playlists when it first came out neither will Halo 5, but I’m more than willing to wait for them as they roll out.

I really do agree with this, the whole sprint cooldown thing is honestly really really dumb, let me run away while my shields recharge like classic halo please. I know for one thing, in all of my custom games, the sprint cancel recharge -Yoink- will be disabled.

I would have to completely disagree with you. How would you win 1 v 3 when they have the same near-instant kill times that you do? Thats what I mean, the only skill is who can aim faster to take that first shot. There is a much larger chance of reversing the battle in Halo games (besides Halo 4 due to shields the ability to aggressively dodge and jump). You are basically saying its rare to get a double or multi kill in a slayer match. Thats simply not true. I do agree with you about kill times encouraging team work but individual prowess still plays a huge part in the game. However, this off to[pic from the thread… How do you feel about Halo 5?

I’m sorry but the sprint/shield charge is one of the best new ideas in Halo 5. It was put in place specifically to stop what you are explaining. Its a video game, stand your ground and fight. You can still run, hide and let your shield recharge you just cant do them simultaneously. As soon as your shield begins to charge you can start sprinting again.

The faster the kill times, the more the individual can shine. That’s why you can hop into SWAT and get killtaculars with relative ease. Multi-kills are possible in normal slayer due to teamwork. You’re not out-strafing three full-shielded opponents by yourself.
I’m pretty neutral on Halo 5. I just wanted to point out how longer kill times don’t empower the individual, as you stated in the OP.
Agree with OP. Nice post, since people who are happy with the game tend not to be too vocal because they are already happy. If anything, at least most of us can agree that it is MUCH better than 4. (Gameplay-wise at least, not a big fan of the campaign’s story)

> You seem to be mistaking “trend following” for “evolution”.
What trends are those? Why do trends and evolution have to be exclusive? Are you saying they shouldn’t have sprint because other FPS have it. It may be a trend but its a logical one therefor becoming the evolution of all FPS.
