Just think about that before you reply. 87GB for a shell of a game that seems to push microtransactions above maps and overall content. It takes up more storage space than The Master Chief Collection and other better games on my Xbox. Gears of War 4 is supposed to be this big at launch and hopefully it’ll be worth it but now I’m not so sure considering the path Microsoft seems to be going with that putting microtransactions into it.
This isn’t a topic spawned by Halo Follower and his recent video covering this, this is all my opinion
I think that’s either from bad data compression, or the dynamic systems that Halo 5 has in place to maintain 60 fps that’s just eating away on the code sum.

apart form the 60FPS and the graphics I don’t see why its this big
Going to agree with skateman33, bad data compression.
Then again, don’t know how much space HD textures require these days. I mean, a large picture does take a lot of space, and that’s basically the only thing that comes to mind which would need that much space, if I’m not mistaken, one mesh can have up to three different textures. One for what we see, one for bump maps and one for the lightning.
Funny if you look at Reach and how much content they managed to cram into that double layer DVD disc, and it still looked good.

If it’s just the HD textures every other game on every other plattform should have the same/bigger problems…

you have a point Reach does look good but so does Halo 4 considering it was on a last gen console

That’s true, as long as they have the same amount of textures and do not reuse them frequently. Halo 5 has a lot of different environments where it’d be difficult to reuse textures, and armors etc.
Either way, it may not be the only things requiring a lot of space, but I’m sure it contributes to the massive amounts Halo 5 does take.
Well you’ve got a bunch of maps, a huge forge, all of the images for req items, and all of the textures/effects of the req items. Not to mention the huge amount of armors and skins in the game too.
I’d say that’d take up a lot of room. Also, why would you mention the Halo follower video if it wasn’t based off of it?

Me neither, I have seen bigger games like GTA 5 take less space. Might also be due to the amount of copy, paste I’ve seen in the game but sure bad compression too by looks of it.
when you think about it halo 5 is a big game.
the amount of weapons, vehicles and armour just to begin with.
then theirs the massive amount of items in forge.
running the game at 60 fps at 1080 will also take up memory.
theirs also all the maps and campaign areas
all of those updates and patches that you have received as well.
all of this adds up to take a lot of memory.
anyway why is 87GB such an issue when you are allowed to have external hardrives (which arent too expensive these days) to store extra games on if you need it.

Halo 5 really isn’t a big game. Plenty of previous Halo games have had more content than Halo 5, most of the new content is just reskins of stuff we already have or minor changes to the armour.
60fps is one thing but that requires RAM, not your hard drive.
Maps and campaigns aren’t as big either, well to be blunt the common theme is that it was badly compressed, most of those updates didn’t really make much with the file sizes that were given within the updates, shouldn’t be taking up as much memory as it seems to be. Sure I can afford a 5TB hard drive but not everyone can, they can go up to £100+…depending on the hard drive.
