Before going into why Halo 5 will be like Halo 2 lets first compare Halo CE and Halo 4.
-Both start with the Master Chief waking out of Cryosleep on a ship which is about to be boarded by covenant (pillar of autumn) (Forward Unto Dawn)
-You then Crash land into a Mysterious Forerunner world and Drive a warthog (Installation 04) (Requiem)
-The Lich Crashing Halo4 and the Banshee Crashing Halo CE
-No Brutes Just Elites Grunts,Jackals and Hunters
-No Dual Wielding
-The Story never changes perspectives from Chief
-An Ancient Evil Awakens (Didact/Prometheans) (Flood)
-The Magnum has a Scope
-In the End Master Chief removes his Helmet ( Halo 1 ending) (Halo 4 ending)
-Mysterious Dark creepy soundtrack.
Now this got me thinking if these similarities are intentional then what will we see in Halo 5 that is in relation to Halo 2?
All I can think of
-Two SIdes to the Story (Locke and Chief Halo 5) (Arbiter and Chief Halo 2)
-Chief and locke will be placed as foes for 3/4 of the game BUT towards the end something will unite them just like the
Gravemind united Arbiter and Chief
The point of this thread is to speculate the similarities we might find within Halo 5! so add on to the list!
I heard something before H4 was released that 343 is mimicking the original trilogy with their story line. (I don’t have a source as I heard/read it almost 5 years ago now) If you remember in CE, you use your shields to overcharge the shields or something in Two Betrayals… and in H4, Cortana says, “A trick out of the old playbook” and you do the same thing while you’re in the forerunner area. (I didn’t like H4, so I don’t remember where exactly it was)… Point being, you’re going to see similarities throughout this second trilogy installment. It’s to be expected and you’ll see a lot.
And this game (MP wise) won’t hold up to H2. Halo is on it’s way out. It’s lost most of it’s fanbase and people just aren’t as interested in playing the “new Halo” as they were when H2 launched. The story might be killer and it could be the best story ever, but that’s all this Halo really has going for it. I really hope the story is amazing and is memorable like Halos of old were. I miss the eeriness and mystery that all the other Halo games had. That’s something that 343 couldn’t do with H4 and it really showed. It just wasn’t a good story or campaign even though the overall story was interesting. Playing it was boring and uninteresting. The H5 MP is just too generic for it to really stand out as something amazing and game changing, so it really needs an amazing story.

Halo 5
Halo 6
Halo 6: ODST 2
Halo: (Prequel)
343i staff leaves to make another IP
343i gets new staff
Halo 7, amazing game but is widely regarded as the downfall of the series.
Halo MCC 2
Repeat…

Huh…
And it’s probably not even because of the pattern. We need a real Didact battle at some point, we’re going to battle at least one ‘Guardian’ which is essentially a boss battle, and then there’s Jul’ Mdama. Couple that with the fact that there’s no way to end H5’s story that wouldn’t be considered a cliffhanger, due to the abundance of subplots that arise from the combined stories of two main characters…
Nope halo 1 was not hated massively. Halo 1 is a classic. Halo 4 will be remembered like Star Wars episode 1. I’m hoping they redeem them selves with halo 5
It seems like 343 learned the mistakes of 4 and have realized their mistakes, and the skill requirement seems higher. The same way Halo 2 did it, they figured out the weapon imbalances, and all the problems from before, added something new into the mix (stealing enemy vehicles, Spartan abilities) , and still had a legendary campaign with it. Hopefully 343 can hit the mark.
I have been thinking about this since the introduction of Locke. We now have two playable characters, each with their supporting team (in H2 Chief had Johnson and Keyes, while Thel had Rtas 'Vadum and his troops). Locke will be sent to a suicide mission to hunt someone else, just like the Arbiter when he was sent to eliminate the heretic leader.

When Nietzsche talked about the eternal return, he was talking about Halo.
agreed with everythingn except one thing, I think Locke and the mighty Chief will surely fight violently (then Chief smashes Locke’s head with a punch :D)
